Error Msg "an Unrecoverable Device Error Occurred. Error While Encoding Movie 1"

JamieH

Question

Have anyone seen this error message before? I just can't burn production

I load the Production under the file name - Daves - Sarah's TT Lap Production.dmsd

If I click edit it loads into videowave. There are tow huge productions as one which altogether come to 4 hours 38 minutes 24 seconds long.

I have set correct parameters for MyDVD 8.5GB DL option then tried burning with Verbatim DVD+R DL 8X to my TSST Samsung Corp SH-S203N DVDRW oem drive.

I get the error message in the topic title "An unrecoverable device error occurred. Error while Encoding Movie 1". I wish I knew what was happening here.

I can burn a smaller production with a T... Yuden DVD+R 4.7GB with no problem. Does the program not like my verbatim DVD+R Dual layer discs or does my DVD Rewriter not like them?

Is there a list where I can find which optical DVDRW's are supported by your Roxio Pro 2010 Creator

software?

I'm trying to think of multiple reasons why I am getting this issue & noone seems to be helping me at all. So I am really stuck.

I hope I get somewhere with the email support team.

Thanks very much for any cooperation help & support & suggestions.

:)

Drive 'support' is dynamic and the software acts on information from the drive. The fact that it will burn to the T-Y discs would indicate that the problem is with the Verbatim ones. Have you tried a firmware update (the drive reads the info from a small track on the disc).

Alternatively, burn at a lower speed and see what happens

I tried my other DL Freecom Dvd+R/Dvd-R USB2.0 external recorder drive. I still get the same issue. I have tried opening the production & taking one of the two productions out so that theres just one, but it still doesn't burn an end up with the same error.

The program won't save my progess properly either. This is highly frustrating & annoying because I need the help of my brother everytime I try to open & burn the stupid production because only he knows where certain text goes. Videowave wants to moves the added text somewhere else on the timeline under other videos. Why won't Videowave save it & keep the text where I want it not where the program wants it. What is wrong with this program it has a mind of it's own?

Add the text to the INTERNAL track of the image/video where you want it. If you don't, the progam think you want it to come in at the same TIME in the production as when you added it originally; any editing will change the location of where you wanted it originally. Editing could incluse adding a image, changing the duration of an image or a video or changing transitions times and more.

Hi gi7omy. Yes I updated the firmware to the absolute latest TSDNWIN program & the latest firmware SB02 for my internal oem SH-S203N drive. Tried burning writing at max speed, then 8x, 2x 1x respectively. No luck! :(

The Windows XP Imap cd burning com service is enabled & running as MANUAL.

All I can think of at the mo is that the drive doesn't like the verbatim discs!

Multi pack of 10 is down to 7 left. I think the 3 cannot be used again, because I load them into drive & the Explorer doesn't pop up the drive window. But I'll have a go at trying to write some random stuff to them & maybe a spare disc. See if it writes anything else contrary to the project in hand.

I'll keep in touch!

P.s. As always, tks for help & support gi7omy. It's appreciated.

Strange really - Verbatim usully produce reliable discs. Unless by some strange fluke you got a bad batch (or youre drive has a problem with dual-layer)

What you could try (and eliminate the software or the drive) is to write an image file to the hard drive first. If that stalls, then there's a s/w problem. If it works, double clicking the image should start the burn process to the drive - then we can be certain which end has the problem

I'm having the exact same issue trying to burn an 8.5GB disk using MyDVD. I have Dynex disks but it seems to be an issue with MyDVD and 8.5GB disks. I've also tried burning an ISO file and it still hangs up at around 85%-90% while encoding the movie. I'm trying to burn several smaller .wmv files. I've also tried converting them to .mp4 movies and burning them and I get the same issue. Does anyone know if there is a way to check the video's for any corruption before trying to burn them? Also, are there any log files that MyDVD generates that might be able to indicate what the cause is? The error doesn't really give us any valuable information. Oh also, I've tried burning the movie on two different PC's and I get the same error so it shouldn't be the drives.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I finally gave up and split the files in two and used a 4.7GB disk instead of 8.5 and everything went fine. I have plenty of hard drive space but I'm not sure about the graphics driver?

OK - the hang at 85% on an iso file is nothing to do with the optical drive (it's not being used so it has to be elsewhere)

Believe it r not, your graphics play an important part in rendering - what sort of card do you have and are the drivers up to date on it? Don't use the MS ones or even the ones from the computer maker - go to the card maker's site and get it there.

Also - how much space do you have on the hard drive? You need a LOT (in the order of 10s of GBs) to render the file. Again, have you defragmented it?

A lot of questions - but maybe the answer could be in there
