I think you may have hit on something. I was unable to open any file with installed programs. In my dim memory it seems I had Apple quick time installed but it has dissapeared. The files are from a Sanyo Xacti 1920x1080 HD Camcorder. When I start MYDVD and go to add movie all the thumb nails are bright and clear, then when I add to project they go overexposed etc. I tried adjusting brightness and contrast again and was able to get a pretty good result but to do to every file ?? Thanks again Bill.

I have an Xacti HD dual camera also and do not have that issue; in fact, I have to brighten most of them since I record indoors.

If you look at them in Quicktime or the free VLC player, are they washed out?

Look at the settings on your camera to see if you have someting set to bright. The thumbnails are just small images of the first frame in the video so they would look slightly darker. When you expand the video in preview, you are getting the full effect. Again, you mght want to look at calibrating your monitor. Some have a built in calibration. Are images taken about the same time and place seem to be washed out?

Does you laptop exceed the minimum requirements for this program? Does it have a DVD burner? What is the exact error mmessage?

The program would have installed everythng you needed to run it.

When you reinstall your program on your desktop (remember only one computer per program), or if you still have the program on the desktop, look at the video files in "Edit Video - Advanced" (Video Wave). How do they look there?

I deleted the program from the laptop and re installed it on the desk top. This is where I got the message that I need to get a later version of Media Player plus I need net framework 1.1 plus service pack 1 plus update rollup 2 for win XP Media Center Edition 2005. Also tried Video wave with same result.also tried a new set of MP4's from a different year with same result? Do you thimk I should do all those updates? Sorry to be such a bother but thanks again. If I am slow in replying it is because we have T Storms here every PM and I am forced to un plug everything. Bill

Where did you get the mp4 files? Have you calibrated your monitor? Have you tried to use either the autocolor or the manual color options in Video Wave?

The MP$ files are from explorer on my C: drive.- I have not calibrated my monitor but have used auto color and manual options with no success. Why JPEG files are OK and the MP4 are not from the same folder?

What have you used to view the mp4 files other than Roxio? What definition are the mp4 files? Where did you get them originally? Folders have nothing to do with your issue.

First thanks for the help I will keep trying. My MP4's are perfect in quick time. I do not have the latest Media Player installed or Net Framework 1.1 etc. do you think that would help? Since I wasn't getting anywhere I thought I would try the program on my laptop running Vista and not XP. Now I get a message that says I cannot use the DVD maker only the other features of the program.? Thanks again Bill
