Question

I am currently using roxio easy media creator 10 and I am running windows vista. After i convert and attempt to burn a video of my daughters soccer game i get the following error:

Sense: 03 ASC: 0C ASCQ: 00 (Command 2A)

-------------------------------------------------------

Px.dll: 4.4.49.501

PxAFS.DLL: 4.4.49.501

pxdrv.dll: 1.2.31.0

PxMas.dll: 4.4.49.501

PxSFS.DLL: 4.4.49.501

PxWave.dll: 4.4.49.501

pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

This just starting a couple of months ago, I am using memorex media either dvd+r or dvd+r dl. I have never had a problem using this media before, this is all i use generally so not for sure if my burner is going bad or not. I have tried to burn at different speeds and still the same error, I use the "fit to disc" option as well. The following is all the versions of software I am using:

I can burn cds(the same media, memorex) with no issues so if someone could please help that would be greatly appreciated since roxio wont help cuz its a legacy product.

Thanks.

Memorex discs are outsourced (they just get a 'Memorex' label on them) and quality varies enormously.

However, you could also have a faulty drive. The DVD uses a different laser than the CD one and that could be the problem

The error code you are getting is:

3 / 0C / 00 WRITE ERROR

and that is from the drive reporting back to the software

Hello,

I edited out your cd-key number for you. :)

Sense: 03 ASC: 0C ASCQ: 00 is a "Write Error" being reported from your drive to your computer. It's not very informative, is it.

Since your writer uses two different physical systems to write DVDs and CDs, it is possible that the DVD writing section of the drive has faulted or died while the CD section lives on. The fact that you can write CDs still, doesn't help us.

I'd suggest that you try writing a DVD with other software to test your burner. Vista may be able to write a data DVD, or you could copy an existing data DVD with something like the free ImgBurn program from here.

If you can't write a DVD using one of the other methods, then the finger is pointed squarely at your burner.
