Cut Off Overlays

raul415

Question

I am using Roxio 2010 Pro and it works great but I always have a problem when I insert an overlay picture, not video. The picture always seems to be cut off or cropped and nothing I do seems to make the rest of the image available.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Please take a screen shot and post it so we can see what you are talking about. When you reply, look lower and you will see an option to add an attachment ( the screen shot).

Is part of the picture outside the TV safe zone?

I have attached a pic. and no as you can see the image is not outside the TV safe zone.

The image is cut off at the top and bottom.

That looks like you are adding an overlay image to a menu in MyDVD Is that correct? That is why being able to add images is great !

Yes, I am adding an image and it is great when it works properly.

Does any one have a fix for the cutoffs. No matter what size the image file is the results are the same.

Are you showing/using the controls on the right side of the screen. Use top menu -View then dock settings. When you add the overlay, you should then be able to make adjustments to the size.

I am adding an image as an overlay using the following steps:

select the "Add overlay" option.

Once the checkerboard/overlay is open I right click on the overlay and choose "Show settings"

In settings I choose "File..." from the Source menu.

I choose the file type in this case jpg. select the image and it appears as an overlay with either the top or bottom cut off.

Adding an Image and Adding an image as an overlay could be two different things. Post the steps you did to add the image.

I am aware of this function but it only creates more area for the overlay if doesn't seem to resolve the cut off of the image contain within the overlay.

Thanks!

I see what you mean now. Yes, there is no way to control the aspect ratio of that overlay. If all you need is a still image on the background, I wouldn't use the overlay option. Click MENU / Edit menu Background. The background video/image will then show up in a Videowave editing window. Add you image on an overlay track here and you can use any unusual shape and see the entire image.

The Image I added is tall. See below. It is the entire image. When finished, Click the 'Back to MyDVD' button above the preview.
