Video Editing

Question

Recently when I was on vacation in Thailand I took some video on my Cannon HD camcorder. One of the videos I have been trying to get on facebook is about 2 minutes too long. On my new computer I have Roxio Creator Premier bluray 10.3. I found the file and deleted the last couple of scenes in Cinemagic. However when I am trying to save the edited version it has a file name called cinemagic.dmsm. This file is not recognizable like the orginal file name - (mp4). Also after I try to save it I get an error message saying -"Production generation failed." So how do I trim down my video 2 minutes and keep the same file name and extension so I can upload it to facebook?

You have a cut down version of the full Roxio program. Not many people have seen or worked with it. If it is like Cine Magic in the full program, you will need to output that file to a video format. The dmsm file is simply a road map to what to use and not use in you production. IF your step 3 looks like this, then you can select make a video file. When that Window opens you have several options.

Also keep in mind, when you use the Cinemagic wizard you will loose the native audio of your original video file.

Yeah I just noticed that. I want to keep the orginal audio. Is there any way I can cut 2 minutes from the video and still keep the original audio?

Not sure what's included in the OEM version you're using, but look for Videowave in Start -> Program Files or Edit Video - Advanced in the Roxio Home windows.

It only costs about $69.00 for the full upgrade. Then I will be able to do everything. However I want to keep the original audio in my video. I just want to shave off 2 minutes at the end. Face book will only allow you to upload videos that are 20 minutes or shorter. If I buy the full version can I do that?

Yes, you can do it with the Edit Video - Advanced (Video Wave) application very easily. Make sure your computer can handle the program.

How many of these are you going to do? The full Creator 2010(good price BTW) has audio editing, computer back up, data handling and a bunch more Applications. Also look at the PRO version for some additions. What of these are you going to use?

I only have one file that is over 20 minutes so that's the reason I wanted to edit the video. However I want to try other things like burning blurays and more advanced video editing. I will let you know after upgrade the software how it worked. I tried everything above that people mentioned but it won't save the output file in the original format with the version I have installed from Dell. Thanks to everyone that gave me feedback.
