Label Creator 2010 And Win7

Antonadc

Question

I have recently upgraded to windows 7. After the instalation it came to light that the HP1010 laser printer I have will not install the driver disc. Windows 7 installs a driver that works with everything else except Label creator 2010. Please can someone help me overcome this problem. I can burn lightscribe discs but as soon as I try to print to paper the label creator program crashes. The printer dialog will not come up. HP do not have updated drivers for this printer. Please help

Why don't you go on HP's site and load the appropriate Win7 Driver set and try that? My linkHere

Dear Jim,

As a digital guru I am surprised that you did not do your homework properly. The link you have supplied is correct. BUT read further. This is a collection of drivers for many printers. If you scroll down there is no driver supplied for the HP1010 THE only printer in the whole setup. Does HP have a grudge against us HP1010 users or what. If you read futher it says that you must make use of windows to upgrade the driver. Now I am not new to roxio I have versions 7 8 10 and now 12. I have battled for many years with this software that seems to always have bugs in it. The only version that worked really well was media creator 10. The same problem exists in creator 10 and it seems I have wasted my money upgrading. I need a fix for this problem. Windows won't fix it HP wont help and now its up to roxio. Please tell me I am the only one with this problem. Thank you. Please understand it is a bit frustrating to get a vauge answer when you know there is a problem.

Print Driver Available in Windows 7

Print drivers for your product are available within the Windows 7 operating system.

LaserJet model specific printer drivers are currently available within the Windows 7 operating system. Installation of these drivers can be performed via Devices and Printers , formerly known as the Add Printer Wizard .

NOTE: If the model specific driver that you arelooking for does not appear in the list of available printers, clicking the Windows Update button underneath the list of available printers may provide additional drivers to choose from. Requires opt-in to Microsoft Windows Update and Internet connection.

Yes I have done exactly as you have stated above and label creator still crashes. I have now found out that my canon scanner also will not work with label creator. I went to canon's website and lo and behold I found a windows 7 driver. After I downloaded it it was a driver for xp and also after instalation it did not work. It did not even install on win7. so I am back to my old scanner driver which works in win 7 and not with label creator.

Oh and as a matter of fact. When you check the printer driver a nice logo of hp comes up and a button says update driver. Guess where it takes you.? Another ring a rosie.

It is a pretty old printer and there may not be any solution from HP…

Upgrading to Win7 was your choice, not a requirement!

And I do not have the time to scroll down and read everything for everybody.

Honestly, old or new, the application should not crash due to a printer!

We need to concentrate on ONE install which one is where you will end up with your one copy of the licensed software – the Win7 with the HP 1010 printer?

Please confirm (Help – About) that your version has the SP2.1 update.

I suspect the initial install did not go right – for a quickie fix start the Install again and select Repair. (probably won't be enough but always worth a try) You will have to do the SP2 & Mayupdate (web video) downloads again as Repair wipes them out…

I thought you said that you could not install the printer driver? :o (First post) What did you change to get the driver to install?

OK. Interesting. I wonder if the 1015 driver worked with the 1010 printer. Apparently so.

Yes the 1015 driver works on the 1010. I have dumped my 1010 printer and lide 60 scanner and persuaded the bank manager to get me a HP1132 printer/scanner.(2 grand later)all Works very well. Seems like plug and pray is changing to plug and play. Instalation went smoothly. Love it to bits. Creator loves it to. Thanks for help guys. Why do the old projects not load into the new label creator. Very frustrating.

Unfortunately the backwards compatibility broke somewhere round EMC 10 (or maybe 10.1).

You're exactly right, Daithi.

Label Creator 10.0 had the old innards and was compatible.

Label Creator 10.1 had new innards and no compatibility with older versions. All versions since then are still using the new innards. :(
