Roxio Burn Issues

Rodrigo S

Question

Hello everyone,

Probably this has been asked before: every time I insert a (re)writable DVD or CD, the desktop "Roxio Burns" icon appears. While it does work when I drag files to write on this icon, the resulting CD/DVD can only be read correctly on others devices only after the first write operation. When I want to add files to the DVD in a second session, the actual write operation goes without any problems. When I insert the resulting disc in e.g. my home DVD-player, it only sees the last added files, and not the whole content. It can also happen that after a second session the resulting disc can only be correctly read on the original computer, and not on any other device.

Eventually, Roxio Burn is as such useless to me since I can't rely on it to produce a disk that can be read anywhere after the first wire session. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Rodrigo

Please explain what you are trying to do? Are you writing DivX files to the DVD? Are you writing data discs?

You cannot burn a DVD to play on your DVD player with Roxio burn. They have to be authored via Create DVD Unless they are data discs like DiVX).

Hello,

Thanks for your answer! I'll clarify. I write avi-files as data, which my DVD player can recognize read as such. The problem is as follows:

* on a blanc disk, I write one data file,(in this case an AVI file, but it could be anything) to the disc. Everything goes OK, the resulting disc is readable anywhere

* I insert the same disc again, the Roxio burns icon appears. I drag a second data-file to it. The burning process goes without any problems. On the computer that burned the disc, both data-files are accesible. On the DVD, only the second file is visible, or the disc can not be read at all.

It would seem to me that the disc is not finalized correctly. When I use the main Roxio program, there are no problems.

Thanks for your help!

Rodrigo,

Which "main program" gives you the good results, please? The 'Burn Data disc' item on the main menu, or Creator Classic?

Can you burn separate 'sessions' at different times with that main program, or are you talking about burning all your AVIs with the main program in one session?

Thank you

Hello,

The burn data disc item from the main menu always gives me good results. I can burn separate sessions with it as much as I like, with the resulting disc readable everywhere. It's just the Roxio Burn icon (drag-and-drop) on the desktop that gives me problems.

Thanks for your help!

Rodrigo
