Audio Format

Question

Hi

I want to create a DvD Music Disc but would prefer to do the conversion in something like Wavelab first.

I can convert them to absolutely any format at all, 24bit 192kHz should be best, I guess. Is this the best way to achieve what I want? Do any audio tweaking of the songs, so adjust volume, give them all a similar feel with a couple of plugins and then save them to the best format for Creator to import.

Can you also tell me how to change the style graphic? It appears there are only a handful of graphics available and I don't see how I can import one.

I am assuming I would just convert a graphic into the correct dimensions and format and then have it located in the correct folder. Are you able to tell me the acceptable formats and the folder I need to put it in?

Cheers

I don't think that any Roxio software can handle 24 bit audio.

Hi grandpabruce

The question wasn't necessarily about 24bit or not, but I want to do the conversion from wave file myself. I have audio programs that would beat creator hands down in the conversion stakes. What is the best sample rate? Happy to stay with 16bit, but am fairly sure creator will upsample from 44.1kHz. What would be the ideal sample rate to make the wave files?

cheers

To change the image:

Double click the tiny thumbnail for Track Lists or Smart Menu

Click the IMAGE button and choose your JPEG

It will be resized to 4:3 so make sure it is already in that aspect ratio.

Hi ggrussell

Thanks for your reply, but that is not what I am trying to change. The background would come up when each track is played and is changeable, but there is also default picture that is shown as the main page. It is under Style and there are 5 default images to choose from. I wish to have my own if possible

Thanks again

When you make a DVD music disc you are making a DVD with just basically the soundtrack.

So whatever format you choose it needs to be DVD compatible format.

You have 3 choices

Dolby Digital AC-3

mpeg1 layer 2

PCM (uncompressed)

If you were to pre convert your music and then add it to Music Disc Creator I don't know what would happen.I'm not sure it would work.

I'm not sure that you can add a format that is not a supported format and I don't think those are supported by Music Disc Creator.

I'd give it a try and see what happens. What may happen is when you go to add the track you'll get an unsupported format error message.

Guess you didn't understand. That is how you do it. First you change the image of the background and then Click the button 'SAVE AS STYLE'. It should then show up in that list.

Ah, got it and thanks

howdy tbrewst

Thanks for your response

Yes, I knew the formats I needed, but am still no closer as to sample rate. I mean, I could do AC3 anywhere from 44.1kHz to 224kHz and the same with the other 2 formats.

OK, will just upsample and see what creator will accept. Once I get to unsupported I know I have gone too far

I realize that the question wasn't necessarily about 24bit audio. I was just letting you know that no Roxio software has ever supported it.

I will just play with some sample rates at 16bit and see where the limit is. I suspect it will be 192kHz, which will be fine. Even if I just do the upsampling of the rate, I will be happy for creator to do the conversion to either AC3 or mpeg 1 layer 2

thanks again
