Installing Emc 10

Rabbitman

Question

I'm having to reinstall EMC 10 Deluxe Suite, and I keep getting an error message during the install.

When I try to install Easy Media Creator 10 setup tells me that it has to uninstall Roxio Update Manager 6.0 so that setup can install Roxio Update Manager 6.0.0. I click on next, and setup works for less than a minute, and an error box pops up that says: Setup encountered an error during installation. Error code 0658.

I have tried installing Easy Media Creator 10 several times with the same results, and have tried unsuccessfully to remove Update Manger 6.0 myself via the add/remove programs dialog box in Windows. I tried this only after receiving the error message on a couple of installation attempts.

1) Copy the EMC 10 disc to a folder on your hard drive and try to install from there.

2) If that didn't work, try downloading and running Microsoft Installer Clean Up utility and rmove ONLY the Update manager from there.

3) If that doesn't work, download and run REVO uninstaller and uninstall EMC 10 using that program in the MODERATE MODE. Clean and prepare your computer like this. Reinstall.

Why do you have to reinstall EMC 10? You did say nor did you say that you completely fixed the problem.
