I'm new to all this but have managed to at least work out how to archive my XDcam master files onto BD via Toast and a La Cie burner.
My problem is that when I encode a BD with a file from my editing system (i.e. a full HD quicktime file dragged into Toast 10), it plays perfectly on a PS3 player but not at all on either
a standard Sony or Panasonic BD player. This is annoying as I had hoped to both use the BD as ways of archiving full HD master files from the camera,
but also being able to deliver finished edits to clients on BD. Is there some finalizing issue I'm not aware of with Toast? Does the plug-in have some sort of preference settings,
if so how do you tweak it? This is really the sort of non-compatibility problem that should have been left in the last century!
For the record, the technical bits are Toast 10.7, La Cie USB 28W recorder. Final Cut Pro 7.02, Mac pro quad core intel zeon, OSX 10.6.4
