Merging Projects

sellio

Question

I have been making a movie from a mixture of photos and video clips. I used the slideshow wizard to create the basic slideshow then added the video clips.

I want to take a project made earlier and add it into my existing project.

How can I import an existing project into a new project I am working on? I tried saving to a video file then importing the video file but I found that when I played the newly created video file the transitions contained long black scren pauses! When I save to DVD the playback is fine. So, really this is two questions.

1. How do I merge two projects into one?

and

2. How do I avoid transitions containing long black pauses when saved to video file?

1) Output one of the projects to a mpg2 file and add that to VideoWave. Did you start or end with Video Wave? Next time use that.

2) At the top of Video Wave, go to options - tools- put a dot next to software. You will lose all 3D transitions. Basically this means that your video card does not have the power to do the render using the hardware mode.

Few people use slide show wizard just because of the type of issues you are experiencing.

Thanks for that advice, I'll try that and see if it solve smy problem. I use the wizard because I have over 300 photos in the project and to sort them out manually would take such a long time. I am always grateful for any advice, though. Its a constant learning curve for me. I quite liked Movie Maker but since they brought out MML I cannot put animated overlays into my projects which is why I've returned to Creator.

My card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M so I am surprised it cannot handle the Roxio transitions etc.

:)

I don't understand what you mean by the bolded text above. I would not create a single project containing 300 photos., I would do it in several stages perhaps based on some theme or by days etc. Of course you should be using Videowave to create slideshows. The wizard much to restrictive in what you can do. Each slideshow can be output to a mpeg2 or avi video file. The video files can later be seamlessly combined into one continuous video if that is what you want. Each video (or VW project) can also be added in myDVD as a separate title.

Oh, I didn't realise some had come out as bolded text.. apologies for that!

I can see the merit of what you say and maybe I shall do it that way in future. I did start doing it that way with this project but when I saved the first part as a video file I got the black pauses in the transitions... that was before your advice though.

I change photos into DVD videos quite often and 200- 300 photos is standard for what I do. I used Creator 2009 before I upgraded to Windows 7 and that was relatively trouble free. Should have kept my old machine... old but reliable!

I bolded the text so that I could reference it in my post:rolleyes:

Have you tried the software render setting to see if it will correct the "black pauses"?
