Are There Two Different Versions Of Creator 2010 Pro?

mbebber

Question

I have been trying to install my downloaded version of Creator 2010 Pro onto my computer running Windows 7 (64 bit). I have tried several times and have done the Roxio recommended uninstall and register cleaning but I can't get the program to run after I install it. I upgraded from Creator 2010 to Creator 2010 Pro when I was still running Vista Ultimate, but I am now running Windows 7. I was wondering if there are different versions and if there are how do I get the Windows 7 (64 bit) version?

Just the one version - but did you upgrade Vista to 7 or do a clean format and install?

If you upgraded, it's possible some registry stuff was corrupted and you'd have to go through the whole uninstall procedure (not missing ANY steps). Then, extract the downloaded files to a folder or folders on the hard drive (anywhere at all) and run setup.exe from inside them

Did you upgrade Vista to 7 or do a clean format and install?

I did a clean install on a new hard drive but I then installed my old copy of Creator 2010 by mistake. After I realized that I had installed the wrong version of Creator 2010, I went through the "Complete Uninstall of Creator 2009 and 2010 (Windows Vista and 7) instructions found on their website. That should have cleared Roxio and Sonic from my hard drive ,registry and recycle folder. I then ran the two Roxio install folders from the Creator 2010 Pro download manager (RoxioCreator2010Pro_HX19A010R14 and Roxio Creator2010Content_HV13AXDOSQA). After all that I ran the install for RoxioCreator2010SP2. After all that and numerous restarts all I get is a Roxio icon on the desktop that when you double click it you get a Roxio text emblem in the middle of the screen for about 4 seconds and then it goes away leaving you setting at the desktop for as long as you want to wait.

This program should not be this hard to upgrade. When you uninstall an old Roxio version it should cleanup after its self so that the upgrade version installs without clashing with junk leftover from the previous version! While I am on a rant, why can't I go to the Roxio website, sign-in as a registered user and download a copy of all the programs I have previously purchased. God knows I have spent enough mony continuously upgrading Roxio every time they decide to release a new version with minor upgrades.

Actually both would work - but did you check for hidden folders in C:\Users\<name>\appdata\local and appdata\roaming?

You will have to turn on 'show hidden files and folders to find them - delete ALL Sonic and Roxio folders in there

Downloading again - you'd have to contact digital river for that - but they usually will let you do it. However, the best way really is to open the files you have downloaded with winzip or winrar (they're self-extracting archives) and burn the contents to a disc or two - that way you have a permanent backup
