How Can I Tell If Cuda Is Running?

JacksonBrowne

Question

Hi,

I picked up Creator 2010 Plus at Target thinking nothing of it> Since there is very little literature on its features, i'm concerned that it's a low rent version of Pro with a reduced feature set. I have a CUDA enabled GPU and am running Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

IS there a way to tell straight up if CUDA is running during a video task? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick response both of you. I have yet to see any CUDA related logos during tasks. Creator 2010 Plus is a poor value at $70. It would be heavily dissapointing if they left out CUDA support at that price point.

I mostly use Video Copy and Convert to transcode DVDand AVI's to PS3 or BlackBerry. When the progress meter shows, I see no CUDA logo. I would think that video Copy and Convert would heavily benefit from CUDA. It's a peculiar omission.

What kind of task did you perform to get that CUDA logo to pop up? Now i'm determined to find out if the PLUS version had CUDA support.

Make sure you have the correct hardware / software and drivers....click here...CUDA GPUs

Try these settings using Videowave- export as...

AVC (better, good, smaller)

AVCHD (1440x1080i, 1920x1080i, 720p)

Blu-ray AVC (EP, HQ, LP, SP)

Sony PSP AVC

I'm running a Sony Z12 with Hybrid graphics. Intel HD, and nVidia GT 330m w/1gb VRAM. I just ran the trial version of this program and CUDA seems to work with it. http://www.badaboomit.com/

The hybrid graphics along with Sony's poor driver support means it's always a few steps behind. Geeks 3D GPU Caps viewer also confirms that a CUDA driver is installed. The nVidia system info lists NVCUDA.DLL driver as v2.2 which is ancient I hear.

My next step is to test out a copy of Creator 2010 standard or pro. I plan on timing the encode tasks since if its just a case of a missing logo with the PLUS version i'm okay with that. Anecdotally, the video encode does seem CPU bound even with a Core i7 2.66ghz.

I have hardware acceleration enabled in the Roxio prefs and latest updates to windows 7 and Creeator 2010 Plus.

Yes the CUDA should be obvious as it displays its’ logo when utilized… I don’t have it, so some others can advise on that…

You Plus is the Regular (Creator 2010) without the Back on Track software and AVCHD abilities. It is a custom package for Target and others and only sold in Retail stores like that.
