Will Burn Dvd+R But Not Dvd-R

leemay

Question

I have Creator 9 and XP SP3 . I can burn direct to disk or burn from image iso using DVD+R discs but it will

not complete the burn in either process using DVD-R discs. At first I thought it was the discs ( Taiyo Yuden

16X -R ) so I went and purchased new Sony DVD-R 16X discs. I still have the same problem. I have used the Taiyo Yudens with previous programs ( Roxio ) with no problems. Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

Please don't add to the confusion by shortcutting the name of the version. Do you have Creator 2009 or do you have Easy Media Creator 9 or do you have an OEM version?

Are you getting any error codes from the burner? How much video are you trying to burn onto a disc (Time). Try using Video Copy and Convert, make sure you have the Copy DVD tab selected and try to burn the ISO. If the ISO is too large to fit on a single sided disc, it will convert it to fit.

What burner do you have (make and model) and will it burn both + and dash R? Some burners will not. Have you updated the firmware for the burner?

Why do you need to burn both + and dash R. Most modern players will play both. As for why you can burn +R and not dash R, perhaps this will help.

Lemay has Creator 2009. We established that yesterday here.

I don't necessarily read/remember all the posts. It would have been nice if the OP used the convention established in the 11 posts in that thread. ;) Especially since this thread is a day newer.

Sknis,

1)Creator 2009

2)Using DVD-R and burn to disc: "Failed to start the image writing operation Error while Burning Image

80004003 Error while Aborting. Has never worked with image.iso.

3)Sony DVD RW DW-D26A which I have used with Roxio 6 and 7 using -R and +R disc's

4)Some friends have older DVD players that won't play +R Thanks, Lee

Here's another code that came up:

Sense: 03 ASC: OC ASCQ: OO (COMMAND 2A )

PX.DLL 4.8.39.500

Download and try this small footprint FREE image writing software called ImgBurn..

If it fails to write a iso image file it could mean your drive is the problem..

9.Click here ImgBurn Current version: 2.5.1.0 CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application

Any help with the application, click here... Guides | Forum

What X speed and Brand Name is the -R DVD Media?

cdanteek:

Using IMGBURN and an image.iso I tried to burn an Taiyo Yuden dvd-r 16x disc. It failed for the following:

I/O error, Interpretation - Write error, Write operation failed

Using the same iso and a Verbatim dvd+r 16x disc, it failed for the same reason as above.

Speed was AWS

--------------------------------------------------------

Using Roxio disc/data burn and the same image .iso with TY dvd-r 16x the burn failed as follows:"Failed to start the image writing operation Error while Burning Image 80004003 Error while Aborting".

Using Roxio disc/data burn and the Verbatim dvd+r 16x completed successfully.

Speed was 8.04X

-------------------------------------------------------

The has never been an error indicating a bad burner. ( Sony DVD RW DW-D26A )with latest firmware.

Thanks, Lee

You have you used 2 different software's and they both failed... so don't blame the software.Get a new DVD burner.

The error code you are getting is from the burner itself:

3 / 0C / 00 WRITE ERROR

That's either a faulty disc or tthe burner is incapable of actually writing to a disc (it's the drive firmware reporting that back to the OS and not the program itself)

But the Roxio worked on the +R disc ??

Borrow an external burner and try to burn that ISO file. I thnk I asked how large it was. What is on it? If it is a video ISO, how long is the video?

Sknin,

It is video clips @ 4.05G

I am going to run this on my other computer with Roxio installed and duplicate programs and files.

Thanks
