Menu Button Selection

Im new to the forum and have been searching around for the same issue but not found it. Apologies if there is one and I've missed it!!

 

Im using Easy VHS to DVD version 1.2.198 SP2 5.0.0.0 and although I have encountered various issues I have managed to resolve them.

 

I have created a number of DVD's of home videos already and not really had any problems, the final dvd burn has always been as expected. I have just created a project in MyDVD and amended music etc as usual. However, the DVD menu selections are not as expected and im looking for some direction in how to ensure that when a title is highlighted it does not automatically select (I want to have to press 'ok' on the remote to select when playing the DVD)

 

As a result of this, for example, when there are two titles on a menu inc a home button (home being the default start point) you can not select 'title 1' if you have to highlight 'title 2' to get to it without 'title 2' selecting once highlighted. (I hope that makes sense!) I have gone back to the project and played around with settings such as unchecking and checking the 'activate on selection box' but this does not make a difference.

 

This is the first time I have had this problem and Im wondering if I should just start a new menu as somewhere along the line I may have caused a glich or if this is a problem im likely to encounter again due to the wrong settings.

 

Any help or pointers much appreciated!

To have one automatically select and play when highlighted takes a deliberate effort on your part… If that is not what you want, don't do it.

 

Of course if you realized how you had done it, you wouldn't be asking

 

You have to highlight each button and under Settings, clear the checkmark at the bottom:

 

 

If you don't have Setting showing or docked, like I have here, look under the View Menu.

 

Don't hesitate to drop in and ask questions or just bounce around ideas.

Thanks for your fast response.

 

I have attached a screen shot (hopefully) so you can see exactly what I do. The box is unchecked and when previewing project still activates on selection when using the 'dvd control', however works as desired if using the mouse to navigate....Screen shot1.doc

I will give it a try and see what I can reproduce…

 

Can you tell me what your Menu & Button Style are so I can keep it as close to yours as possible…

Hi Jim,

 

Apologies for my lateness in replying. For the menus in the entire project 'Fireworks' has been used, Home/Back etc buttons are all the 'Baby Seals' theme and every other button/title for selection is simply default. Im wondering if I have caused a glich by also using transitions when selecting some titles (I haven't in previous projects but thought i would be a little more flash this time!! )

Transitions are something of VideoWave and have nothing to do with MyDVD…

 

Would you supply a screen cap that covers the Project View area???

 

What I noticed last week was that if the Chapter button always leads to the Chapter page and it is the settings of the default Chapter Menu Button that would cause it to play, not the 'Next' button…

Transitions are available for menus in myDVD. Just select a menu item and the Settings window shows a Transition panel where you can select None, File or Effec.

Doh It was right there!

I tried to duplicate and cannot!

 

The only way I could come close was to set a Menu button to Activate on selection…

 

Even then it would only activate when cycling through the buttons, but not when it was automatically highlighted from a Next or Back button.

Thanks for trying! I have posted the project view for you incase you can see any glaring problems I might have made for myself. Im going to continue with another project and then redo the one I have had problems with. If I discover how I caused it I will let you know

From your pic, you click on what and which one starts playing?

 

PS: when I was down there last, cine film was still in use & digital would have been in Fantasyland
