Setup Error/failure : Office Live Add-In Update Attempt

JayP

Question

I am attempting to install the Creator 10 software on my computer through the internet download. When I initiate the executable file, the installation process begins and extracts all the files for the install. At this point the setup attempts to update Office Live Add-In software and then lists Windows Vista hot fixes that need to be downloaded prior to continuing the setup. Failure of the setup then occurs as I cannot download and/or install these updates that setup requires to have to continue the process.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) along with Office 2010. I do not have Office Live installed on my PC.

(Setup File: RoxioCreator2010_HX19AXC0R13)

Any thoughts or suggestions as to next steps to get the Creator 2010 install on my machine would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

JayP

Hello JayP,

I wonder if you still have temporary files left after your installation of Office 2010 that are being run instead of the Roxio files. It would be a good idea to clean out all your temporary folders before you try once more to install Creator 2010.

I personally use the very good free program Ccleaner for this purpose. It can be downloaded here.

The Roxio Knowledgebase has a useful article on preparing your computer for installing Roxio products. That is found here and is worth reading.

I hope this helps you.

Brendon,

Thank you for the response, unfortunately that did not do the trick. The installation process still went immediately to "setup is initializing updates" after it had finished expanding all the necessary files for installation. (The Cleaner program is great though, thanks for recommending that!)

Any other ideas or should I just wait for the disc version in the mail and see if that has better results? I wonder if the download is somehow corrupted.

Thanks,

JayP

Type %temp% into the run command and click ok, what do you see?

W-7 Google run command, they hid it...

Extract the download in a folder on your hard drive (Win Zip WinRAR) and run the .exe from the folder...

cdanteek,

It appears we have a winner. I was able to install both the main creator file and the content file following your suggestion. I appreciate you taking the time to review my issue and offer a solution. Lets just hope this is the only problem I run into....
