Lightscribe Support

Zayde

Question

I recently got a new CD/DVD writer which supports LightScribe media. I have not installed the writing software furnished with the drive since it is the typical stripped down light version (and NERO at that). My one simple question is:

Does "Easy CD and DVD Burning (in Red Box)" support LightScribe?

Please be aware that Easy CD and DVD burning is Roxio's "typical stripped down light version".

The link provided gives a great deal of information; however, no where in the document can I find a reference specifically to "Easy CD and DVD Burning (in Red Box)"

I realize that Easy CD and DVD Burning (in Red Box) is not a full featured package, but it seems that it will satisfy my simple needs IF it can support LightScribe.

So again does Easy CD and DVD Burning (in Red Box) support lightScribe? --- Yes or No?

Not going to pull your leg – I do not have the Win7 Red Box installed on a PC with a LightScribe drive…

But LightScribe requires that you have the LightScribe software installed on your PC!!! You may download the latest version, Here.

At the moment I have the Dell OEM 10.3 software installed which is very similar to the 10.3 Red Box.

Both use the Roxio Express Labeler and I will assume it supports LightScribe, provided you do your part.

Maybe Brendon would be kind enough to check on that???

For that matter you could open Express Labeler and look. Try that Before and After installing the LS Software and let us know! ;)

I have the Easy CD and DVD Burning (Red Box) software running on this machine, but don't have an LS drive [wouldn't have one in the house!]

Easy CD and DVD Burning (Red Box) has the Sonic Express Labeler.

The Sonic Express Labeler will write a LightScribe label when you have an LS drive and install the LS software. The LS software download gives you easy-to-follow instructions on how to do it. I installed the LS software so I could show you this. The 'OK' is greyed out because there's no LS drive.

Brendon

Thank you for you help and advice.

As it turns out, I did not need Easy CD and DVD Burning (in Red Box) after all. After installing the LightScribe software downloaded from LightScribe's website, I discovered that the CD&DVD s/w I already had (RecordNow 8 Premier) did in fact support LightScribe.

All is well, I have successfully burned both data & label to DVD media using the new CD/DVD drive.
