Setup Encountered An Error During Installation. Error Code 000D .

Question

From a 2 Disk set of "Roxio Creator Pro 2010", I started to install Creator 2010 on my HP Pavillion 8000 laptop, (windows 7 Ultimate) then aborted the install half way through. When I tried to reinstall the program I got one of 2 error messages depending on how I configured the compatibility setting on the Setup.exe.

Setup has determined that your configuration does not support any of the included products. Or... Setup encountered an error during installation. Error Code 000D .

I have disabled the startup programs and processes with MSCONFIG.... Cleaned the Registry of any mention of Roxio or Sonic... Used the search tools in the computer to find every instance of Roxio, Sonic, Creator on the C:\ drive and removed all referrences.

I tried all the different combination's of compatibility for the Setup.exe. I keep getting the 000D error. I installed the Disk 1 programs on the D:\ drive and installed to the C:\ drive, on the C:\ drive and installed on the C:\ drive, on a USB drive and installed on the C:\ drive all with the same result.... "Setup encountered an error during installation Error Code 000D".

I called 1-877-793-7471 tech support spoke with Dino. He had me try using a new user ID with administrative permissions.... Same result Setup encountered an error during installation Error Code 000D. So Dino sent me an email suggesting basically the same things I had tried already... I also disabled the internet connections and firewall while attempting installation...

Surely someone must have a suggestion as to why this is happening.... It is almost as if a file has been corrupted that tells the setup.exe not to install....

Any help would be appreciated.

Studying the forums further I realized I should send "tech" a log file... here's the file I sent. It appears I am missing a 1033.mst file and some msi files....

Or... Setup encountered an error during installation. Error Code 000D .

Error Code 000D is Error reading from the disc. Could be that its corrupt or the drive has an issue with the disc.

Make a folder on your desktop and copy the disc contents to the folder, now install from the .exe in the folder..

If the disc won't copy to the folder on the hard drive, rinse the disc with warm water and use the inside of a clean cotton T shirt and dry the disc gently wiping from the center hole to the edge of the disc...Make sure its dry and try the copy again...

The install from the "C:\ drive to the C:\drive" I refer to in my post was from a folder on the "desktop".... I read your posts prior to starting the new thread and I believe I have done most if not all of your suggestions....

I don't know what you've done, most or all?

'HP Pavillion 8000 laptop, (windows 7 Ultimate)' Wasn't a upgrade from Vista OS was it?

Would you happen to have a different system to assess if the installation disc or drive is an issue? If yes, try copying the installation disc to a flat file and see if you end up with that same issue. If yes, I suggest requesting TS to send you a temp download link.

I installed this product on my desktop. Also a windows 7 ultimate, clean installation from HP Pro. The Creator 2010 works fine in the desktop, and the install did start in the HP Laptop and was progressing fine until I had to abort it... now nothing I do will allow the setup.exe to continue to install....

Perhaps, try using the copied flat file from Desktop to Laptop to install. You should be good to go.

Doenload and install Revo Uninstaller (free software) on your computer. Open it; does it see that Roxio Creator 2010 is in the listing? Uninstall it using the MODERATE MODE. Try installing it again.

1) Make sure your computer is ready for the installation and

2) Copy the disc to your computer (C drive) and install it from there. (000 error).

Flat file? I installed it from the 2 disk set directly to the desktop with no problem.... is there a current file I can copy from the desktop installation that will help the Setup.exe find what it needs?

Flat file = Copied installation files from the disc to a folder. Try copying the installer files into a USB drive or so and then install using these files (essentially running setup.exe) to the laptop.

As I stated in my post:

"I installed the Disk 1 programs on the D:\ drive and installed to the C:\ drive, on the C:\ drive and installed on the C:\ drive, on a USB drive and installed on the C:\ drive all with the same result.... "Setup encountered an error during installation Error Code 000D".

In reading the log file I see what set the Error, but I don't know where to find the 1033.mst files .... if I could find them I'd put them in the same folder with the setup.exe on the desktop.....

That might make sense to you but not to me!

Are found in several of the installation disc folders..

Got the Roxio Creator Pro 2010 installed....

Could not figure out why the "Setup encountered an error during installation Error Code 000D" kept setting, so I decided to use an old trick that worked in MSDOS and earlier Windows systems...

I copied the "Roxio 2010" folder from the "Program Files" of my desktop machine (which is running windows 7 and Roxio 2010) to the "Program Files" folder of my laptop...

Then making sure I had the Roxio Creator 2010 #1 install disk in the CD/DVD drive, I navigated to the "Roxio Central 5" folder in "Program Files" and double clicked "Roxio CentalFx.exe"... This started Roxio 2010 and brought up the expected "Can't find xxxx file" dialog box asking where to find the file... I pointed the query to the appropriate folder on the CD/DVD drive.... as expected Windows 7 started "fixing" the program problems and after a few restarts and running the "DeleteCertFiles", updates and "Roxiocreator2010sp2" everything is working fine with no problems....

As an aside, I had also tried....

Moving the 1033.mst files to the respective folders and while this cured the "unable to find" problem but not the "Failed loading MSI" problem...
