Max Text Quantity Limit? (Error With No Text)?

WW Training

Question

I have roxio Easy Media Creator 2010 and have used it for some time. Recently, I have been using Roxio Video Wave to take a DV-AVI video about 27 minutes long and narrate it via text on the bottom of the screen. I got to about 9min 20sec (Est. 200-300 text boxes) and it works fine. If I continue to about 9min 30sec, and then save it, if I open up the file that I save then Video wave starts up and shows a blank message box that has 2 buttons (Cancel and details) if I click cancel, then the video and contents appear on the screen but all of the player controls are gray and I cannot play or edit the video. if I click details, then it opens up the message box a little larger but it is still blank. Is there possibly a limit on the amount of text bixes that can be inserted into production?

Thanks,

Joe

Joe: I don't think anyone is going to get interested enough to try it

But it is possible that it corrupted during a save?

You might be able to throw a test one together quickly by taking a video and then adding the text as cut and past.

It was not corrupted during a save as I always kept a backup and tried it 3-4 times with consistant results. What I ended up having to do was break the video down into 10 minut sections. I haven't been able to find the time to make a test to tell how many text boxes video wave can handle yet but I would like to.

I was going to recommend breaking up the video into 10 minutes or less segments and work with those but see that you are now doing that. I don't know if there is a limit to the number of "text boxes" but I see no reason to even find out. I would certainly never try to create a project with several hundred text boxes. In fact I always try to work with only 10-15 minute segments when editing. After all they can be easily and seamlessly combined into one continuous video.

BTW, why are you using that many text tracks, I would think you don't need more then 2.

Joe, I can't even imagine an audience that would read text, at the bottom of a video, for 27 minutes. A voice over, maybe, but text.....?

At any rate, thanks for posting that the 10 minute splits enabled you to achieve what you wanted. It may help someone else, sometime in the future.

The other approach to Text is to put Splits in the Video at the beginning and end of portion where you want the text to be shown.

Then add the text to the internal track instead of an external track…

It has the advantage that it becomes part of the clip and stays with the clip should you move it around trim etc…
