Best Format When Converting Mov For Dvd Play

Phyllis J Soboczenski

Question

I downloaded "Any Video Converter" to convert my MOV files to something that will work with Roxio Creator 10 to make DVD's that will play on various DVD Players and other computers so I can give copies to family members etc. It looks like that will work OK but I would like to know which video format is most likely to be compatable with the most other DVD players or computers. My DVD player will play the AVI and WMV fine and the MOV with no sound, burned from Roxio 10 (with my new powerful computer). Would you recommend converting all files to AVI, MPEG2 or what for the most likely compatablity with the most DVD players or computers? Thanks in advance.

All video in a standard video DVD is in the mpeg2 format so you might as well convert it to that format. I don't know of any stand alone player that plays wmv, mpg or mov files directly. Some DVD players are able to play the DivX avi format.
