Ecd 6 Suddenly Having Problems

Recommended Posts

First I started getting the message "No recorders available" or something like that. I've seen this problem mentioned in plenty of threads, but still haven't been able to solve it through uninstall/install.

Second, every audio CD I put in my D drive now shows up differently in My Computer, and not at all in Audio Central. Let me explain. I have Windows XP Pro. Whenever I used to put an commercial audio CD in my D drive, it would show up in My Computer as an audio CD with a cute (and large) blue musical note. If I double-clicked on it, it would start playing the CD. In Audio Central, all the songs would show up on the CD button, next to the list button at top middle.

Now in My Computer, it merely says audio CD without the blue note. If I double-click on it, it shows a list of Track01.cda, Track02.cda, etc.

It doesn't show up at all in Audio Central.

What gives? I love ECD 6 and have been using it for years, but this is very frustrating, and I'm thinking of switching to ITunes to manage my music, or maybe upgrading to some new Roxio, though I would much rather "fix" the program I already know and love.

Please help.

Thank you, Jamey Hall

What you had was Windows XP Auto Play set to Audio Central for a Audio CD..

Reset it, Google is your friend...

"No recorders available" is a different animal...

Sorry cdanteek, that had no effect. Any other suggestions, anyone? BTW, I was mistaken about the version I have. It is actually Easy CD & DVD Burning.

*update* Actually, looks like I'm wrong about the version again. Thought the box says "Easy CD & DVD Burning", when I go to All Programs, it says "Easy CD & DVD Creator 6". So I guess I'm not really sure . . .

Should I buy the new "Easy CD & DVD Burning" at Office Max? It's only $30. Will that solve all my problems? Or will it be so disimilar to my 2003 program that it is a pain in the butt?

Thanks, Jamey

Sorry, I don't see how that will help.

In post #3 it was suggested that you had " Windows XP Auto Play set to Audio Central for a Audio CD" and you should change it. You responded with "that had no effect".

The URL I sent you gave the possible reason that it had no effect was because you were missing some security updates .

(quote)

"To disable the Autorun functionality in Windows XP, in Windows Server 2003, or in Windows 2000, you must have security update 950582, update 967715, or update 953252 installed".

Did you check to see if you had them?....again, its a long shot.
