Video Copy And Convert

jevans14

Question

I bought Creator 2010 to convert Tivo files and burn to DVD. I started Creator 2010 for the first time and it came up, I started Copy and Convert and it just hangs, sort of. It's been running for over 15 minutes with the same splash screen. I can hear the disk chugging away and task manager says it is running at 98% of cpu usage. Please tell me this isn't normal.

Running Win XP, SP3, 3 GHZ CPU with 3 GB RAM. Any idea what it is doing or why it is taking so long?

We had the same experience. Our cpu usage was huge as well. In time we ended up replacing our system, but until we did we could not use all the programs on Creator 2010.

I don't know if it is mentioned on the box, but it should tell the purchaser "you need a LOT of MEMORY AND A LOT OF HARD DRIVE if you hope to run our program successfully."

Once we purchased a new PC because our older one crashed we could them finally run Creator 2010 more successfully. I believe a lot of problems I read on here are because a lack of resources is the person's real problem, if the amount of resources is made clear by Roxio I am not sure.

Right now I am about 10 minutes away from telling Roxio I want my money back. I have no problem with doing a video convert taking all my CPU and memory and maybe it will take hours or even days, but for the program that does the Convert and Copy to not even launch is ridiculous. I appreciate your reply, I may have to re-think this.

Is there any possibility that running it the first time it is going out and scanning my whole system for audio and video files and somehow making a list or library of what is out there? If that were the case it would at least explain why it was taking forever on the first time launch.

Yes. if you have Media Manager set to monitor your files. Open Media Manager and turn off watch folders or turn it off using msconfig/start-up uncheck it, reboot and acknowledge that you made a change.

It is what it is ! Doesn't the name give it away? Look under either the Video, the Audio or the Photo tab for "Browse and Manage Media"

If you have a lot of files that are any of all of the above, it may take a LOOONNNGGGG time for the program to catalog all you files.

I found Media Manager and told it to Stop Monitoring Folders. I assume that is what you meant. I also went to msconfig/startup and disabled anything I could find that looked like it had anything to do with Roxio. Restarted system. Still no difference. I don't have all that any files on the system, maybe a couple of thousand audio files and a couple of hundred video files. I disconnected my external hard drive where the majority of the media files are kept. At least it doesn't seem like that many to me. I will let it run and run and run and see if it ever comes back. If it does and I restart it to have it come back faster, great, if not I'll be on the phone to Roxio Monday morning for either a solution or a refund.

Thanks for the replies.

Here is a beta you might try. I finds out why your computer is slow to start so you can make the proper adjustments. Again it is a beta and free. It worked for me but you are on your own if you make major changes.
