If Your Capturing Freezes, Try This...

Question

The past month or so any analog tapes that I was capturing would freeze on the preview screen after about 7 minutes. Never did it before. I traced back to around the time that I started having the problem and checked that date with the dates of any software I might have installed. There it was--I had installed FFdshow video codecs. As soon as I uninstalled it and rebooted, my capture problems are gone.

Not sure what make FFdshow cause the conflict on my computer (XP Pro), but hopefully my posting this will help someone else.

I have FFdshow installed (on a Vista machine though) and have no problems when capturing with C2010, VHS2DVD or EMC 10. In fact I create a lot of DVDs from videos that require the FFDshow codecs.
