Widescreen Video Capture

Colinkke

Question

Hi, Before I buy, can someone tell me whether creator 2010 or mydvd10 capture video in widescreen format?

I have a USB 2861 device capable of handling widescreen and have recorded widescreen using third party software "debut" and "Virtualdub" but am unable to capture in widescreen using my existing Roxio Mydvd9.

Thanks

Colin

Pam, please share how you capture widescreen from the USB analog capture device using Media Import.

Colinkke - Is that the Roxio USB capture device or from another company. The one I have certainly doesn't support 16:9.

It's from another supplier, EZCAP. I have some editing s/w that can import and burn widescreen video but cannot capture. Hence the "debut" and "virtualdub" capture software. BTW these two are free downloadable and recommended by EXCAP.

Yes.

Thanks Pam, is the Creator10.myDVD10 menu customisation as flexible as Roxio state? Are there many to choose from? Many thanks. Col

Menus in MyDVD 2010 are customizable, but there are some limitations like how many buttons on one menu. Some people confuse 'titles' with 'chapters'. They aren't the same thing. 'Chapters' are NOT on the first menu although many people try.

EZCap looks exactly like the Roxio USB capture device and I don't know of a way to capture widescreen with the Roxio device using ANY software.

Downloaded Debut. I set it up to use the Roxio USB device. Clicked Edit output and selected Resize and chose 16:9.

Captured 10 secs from my Canon which was set to 16:9 DV. File saved was 4:3 even in Debut which is set to 16:9.

Creator 2010 has no options to constraint or resize the analog input which is always 4:3.

Hi, EzCAP confirmed it is 16:9 compatible and when used with Debut can capture 16:9 I've done this and can only suggest you try an EZCAP USB device, it didn't cost much, about £17 from amazon uk. I've since captured 16:9 using EZCAP and Debut then edited using Creator/DVD 9.
