I think you have to go back as far as Toast version 5 for OS 9 compatibility.

Perhaps someone on eBay still has such laying around?

Thanks for your interest/reply.

I have a registered copy of Toast 4.2 ( yep that old ).

Now this iMac has a built in CD optical drive/burner.

I read that I can attach my external FireWired LG CD/DVD burner and use Toast to burn to that CD/DVD burner.

I've tried this and that but no such luck it just can't "see" the external burner.

I am keeping this iMac at OS 9 with no intention to have OS X installed.

Any hints how i can get the OS 9 to "see" and use the external FireWire CD/DVD burner ?

Thanks.

Those versions of Toast came with extensions that enabled burning to different devices. Apple eventually started enabling some disc burning within its applications and the Apple extensions caused a conflict with the Toast extensions (as did extensions from some other optical drive manufacturers). So either you have an extension conflict, or you are lacking the Toast extensions or your drive isn't supported by those extensions. You might do some research at xlr8yourmac.com because that site used to be a primary place to discuss disc burning nightmares. I'm moving this discussion to the Toast 6 and 5 forum.

Dear People , please Help!!!!

I'm owner of a freecom portable II since 2000! The CD burner is in perfect condition and still works fine!

The console has worked with imac G3 Mac OS 9.2.2 allways perfect!

By emotional compromise reason I keep my iMac and run as Jubox ... but by changes on my hard disc the Roxio Toast 5 Lite software is lost. And even worse I am no longer in possession of the CD ROM! I've searched everywhere to buy but to no avail. without soft my old imac g3 can not explore CD burner ....

Under XP works fine but I definitely want to work under Mac OS 9.2.2.

Could perhaps helepn me with this problem? maybe somewhere in the dust eating a yellowing copy of this software?

please Help!!!!

Thanks,
