Easy question, hoping for an easy answer.

Using Canon digital for videos and my clips come up in mvi format which does not work for sending etc.

Does anyone know how to convert from mvi to avi format using Roxio?

Your message is considered span since it links to a for pay piece of software. There are free converters available at cnet.com if Creator 2010 doesn't work.

Are you sure about that format? Which model camcorder?

Supported formats for Creator 2010 are

"Video: AVI, DV, HDV, DV-AVI, MPEG-1/2/4, MPEG2-HD, DVD-Video, IFO/VOB, XviD, DVR-MS, TiVo, ASF, MOV, WMV, QuickTime, 3GP, MPEG2 Transport Stream, AVC (H.264), AVCHD"

Here is a discussion on the Canon forums. It looks like you can just change the file extensions in Windows via file/options "show known file types." One says change to mpg, the other to avi. You will have to experiment.
