Try a different source like a DVD Player please..

No luck yet. I did some more researching. It turns out my old camcorder from the year 2000 needs to be connected through a firewire. Win 7 does not work with this old technology. Now looking into connecting my old XP with the firewire.

Trying to preserve my old videos are becoming a real mission impossible. Thanks for all your help and patience.

Help...I'm new to this software. I want to convert my hi8 to dvd. Is it necessary to connect through vcr? How does camcorder connect in? I've loaded software with no problems. How do I connect all the cords? The guide only mentions vhs.

You can connect to a camcorder..

Isn't red/white audio, yellow component video, or S-Video, self explanatory?

Look at the VHS and camcorder they should be color coded the same..

Version 1.2.198; 5.0.0.0.

Common framework vers 1.8.3489.2383

Hope that helps.

Since finding the version I have installed the update that goes with this version. Still no change - capture does not highlight. I have also tried to plug the usb capture into different port and it made no difference.

Now that we know what V2D version your running, what operating system are you running and service packs on your PC?

Is this a laptop or desktop pc? Have you tried a rear USB connection, no USB hub or USB extension cord?

Click on the link below and scroll down to "Device manager and drivers for each device." It's the 11th pic...

http://forums.suppor...premium-32-sp1/

To enter Device Manager right click My Computer and click Properties, look for Device Manager..

With the USB Device plugged in to a USB port do you see the two entries the red arrows point at, 'Roxio Video Capture USB and USB 2861 Device? Unplug it and re-plug it in and watch device manager change..

Is the device warm to the touch?

In device manager I do see Roxio video capture and USB 2861 device. Yes it is warm to the touch.

Is your program set correct? Are you connected through Composite or S-Video?

Capture device shows the usb 2861. Connected through composite.

What does that mean?

Under the blue video button, in the pic above, click the down arrow it has to show what my pic shows, Roxio Video Capture USB.

Can you do that?

Then turn on the VHS or Camcorder and see if the Capture Now button Highlights?

That is you problem then!

The two pics below show what you should show with your version of V2D and W-7..

Try this open the program on the Home Page, up top, Help, Check for updates, run that, what happens?

Under video it now states Roxio video capture. I have already checked for updates. There was one and I installed it. The capture is still not highlighted.
