Video Copy & Convert

Dengua

Question

I have creator 10, w/SP2 installed 2 days ago. Every time I C&C a clip it converts it to 4:3 format. I've tried the DVD & the 720 HD setting. Roxio suggested I load SP2 which I did. Same thing. The camera is a brand new Samsung w/SD memory. Not only does it convert it to 4:3 it dosen't use the whole screen. If I use windows movie maker and DVD creator it works fine.

Thanks for responding. I bought Roxio creator 2010 about 5 weeks ago. So I called them for live tech support on Thursday. She told me their new ver. 2011 was released on Tuesday, and they only support the current ver. for free. So if I wanted live tech support I'd have to pay for it. I hope you can understand my fustration.

The camcorder is a Samsung SMX-R40rx. I first used the editing software that came with the camera. It uses the same copy and convert step that Roxio uses. It's for editing, then you use Microsoft software for burning the DVD. The process takes forever. I thought the Roxio Creator 2010 would be faster & give me more editing options. If I use the Samsung & micro soft software it works fine. If I use Roxio it converts the 16:9 format to 4:3 and leaves a large black border around the picture. I off loaded all of the raw video images to my hard drive. I was hoping to splice edited video & still images together for a DVD. I looked at the video clip provided by Roxio, and this is the way they Roxio showed how to do it. Another problem I burned the sample DVD-R and it won't playback on my 2 most important DVD player/burners. Roxio tech support

wasn't very helpful, they told me to install their SP2 for creator 2010 to see if that fixed the problem. It didn't! I hope you can help.

Camera or camcorder?

How are you getting it on your computer and what do you want to do with the clip(s) in the end? Do you have the same problem if you load the clips into Edit Video Advanced (VideoWave)?

Be nice. If you are using Movie Maker and DVD Maker why are you using Copy and Convert Video?

If you posted the correct ID of the camcorder, it records in standard definition 720 by 480 H264 format. This is not 16 by 9. Creator is giving you the native aspect ratio. If you ask it to display in 16 by 9, then you will get the black bars. You could display full screen but the top and bottom would be cut off.

How did you burn the DVD; what blank DVD dis you use? Try using "Create DVD-Advanced" rather than Copy and Convert to burn your disc.

There is no creator 10. Roxio Creator 2010 and a older Easy Media Creator 10.

Have no idea what CC a clip is?

Same thing, DVD creator?

It would save everyone time if they used the correct Suite and Application names....
