Roxio Cinemagic Assistant

Question

I am trying to make a video file from photographs using the ROXIO CREATOR 2009. I am using Win XP 64 bit version as the OS. Theses photographs have been taken on Canon powershot 10.1MP camera. Somehow when I try to create the video file on the output screen it gives me the following error.

"There is no common media types between this pins."

I tried to use some other photographs taken from Canon SLR and initially it gave the same error but when restarted the program it made a video file.

I would appreciate if someone could guide me with this program error.

Thank you.

I did a little searching on this forum. That message is a good indication that your video drivers are at fault. What computer do you have - make and model. What video card/chip do you have if you know it. You will have to update the drivers either from the video card manufacturer or, if a chip from the computer manufacturer.

Go to Windows start and type in dxdiag and then OK. When that opens, go to the display tab and on the left will be your video card/chip information and on the right will be the current driver information. You can do a screen cap and then post that to just post the information.

I found this information

UPDATE July 16, 2008: Found the fix. First, I would like to point out that this problem appears in many forums including the Roxio forum, yet NO WHERE did anyone bother to mention that the problem is in Microsoft direct draw, not Roxio. The message from Roxio does not point at all to an MS problem. For a none developer this can be very frustrating.

Again, the issue is with the MS DirectDraw. It appears that over 90% of the time the problem is in the video or audio driver codecs. Reinstall or upgrade the video and audio drivers and then reboot. I tested this on both a Dell Latitude D820 and Precision 690, both using NVIDIA video cards. It corrected it on both. No, I have not been able to recreate the problem only fix my machine on which it existed.

So, no Roxio fix required. The only frustration that remains with Roxio is the lack of information in the error messages.

BY the way, use Video Wave (Edit Video Advanced) to make your slide show. There are many more options. "How to videos" here
