It`s All Gone Pear Shaped ! Help Needed!

Until a couple of weeks ago Roxio Easy CD Creator 6 worked great for 6 years or so then is would jam half way through burning MP3`s to a CD.

I tried everything to get it working and nothing helped so I uninstalled and reinstalled and it`s been hopeless ever since.

1) When I put a CD into Audio Central it does not play, it does not show any track numnbers and doesn`t connect to the CD database. Effectively it doesn`t recognise a CD is in Audiocentral at all.

2) In creator Classic if I put in a blank CDR or DVD it does not recognise this at all and just states "Please insert blank disc"..this does not change even when I do this. I`ve tried several different types all without success.

3) Why does it not work like it did when I first installed it several years ago. I would have thought Uninstall followed by Reinstall would load everything that`s needed for it to work properly.

4) One issue when I reinstalled was that a message came up asking me to restart which I did. Whenthe computer restarted a message popped up saying that the changes were saved but Windows needed to reboot , I just did that so why did that message pop up again??

Any ideas or will it be better to splash out on new updated Easy CD Creator software and is there any gurantee that the same thing won`t happen again??

By the way I run Windows XP Service Pack 3 with 1024mb memory and 200 GBg hard drive. with 25GB space avalaible.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mick

Check your versions of Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player, Mick.

If I.E. has been updated past version 6 or WMP past version 9 [if I remember correctly] that could well have broken your Easy CD and DVD Creator 6. Sometimes even with updates things might work okay for a while until the system is disturbed, and then they go west on you. We don't know the exact mechanism.

It is sometimes possible to "roll back" to earlier versions of I.E. or WMP unless you've installed XP-SP3 after the I.E./WMP updates.

Thanks for your help.

I have a later version of IE 6 and also I have WMP 10 I think. and I`ve installed SP3 too.

It just seems starnge that it was working OK until a few weeks ago then the CD burning was sticking. Everru=ythinbg else worked OK (it could burn Word Documents and photo`s to CD but not MP3`s) I just wished I hadn`t uninstalled and reinstalled as it`s now completely knackered !!!

Would this be resolved if I bought the latest version of easy CD Creator?

Many thanks

Mick

I honestly don't know, Mick. I suspect it wouldn't.

That new information about it burning other types of files but balking at MP3s is very strange. Is this Creator Classic you were using, or one of the wizards or Audio Central?

Again, failure to recognize the insertion of a disc is usually an issue with the drive itself or its firmware, rather than the burning software.

If it was me, I would be inclined to uninstall the Roxio software as completely as possible and then clean up the system as thoroughly as you can before reinstalling and re-updating it again. I hope you have the updates saved somewhere, as I believe Roxio has taken them all off their servers now.
