Static And Popping Noises

adolfo

Question

Hello,

This is my first time posting here. I am having trouble with the Media Import (video capture). I am using Roxio Creator 2010 and Roxio USB capture card. I have a pretty new VCR connected to this setup. When I turn on the Media Import application to do some video capturing, popping and static noise comes up. When I press play on the VCR there is no sound. I am using the onboard video card connecting the pc to the tv via hdmi. I have tried sending sound through the hdmi and also through the built in optical output on the motherboard. They both give me the same results. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you in advanced.

System (Home built HTPC):

Windows 7 x64

Gygabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H

ATI HD 4290 (integrated)

HMDI is both audio and video. Please be careful because in some places you talk about the VCR and then you talk about the TV. What are you capturing from? It is hard to follow just what you have connected using HMDI and what has the motherboard?

Does the VCR have the red, white and yellow plugs as output (probably on the back rather than the front). You should use those. The USB device is designed to use all three. If you don't, and don't make input adjustments, then when you go to capture, the computer is looking for an audio signal from the USB device. Since none is there, it goes silent. If you try to capture video from one source and audio from another, you will probably end up with sync issues.

As for the popping and static noise, perhaps you are overdriving your audio chip.

I am using the RCA cable (red, white and yellow) to connect the vcr to the usb. The video output of the pc is going through an HDMI to the TV. I dont have a video card connected to the expansion slots so im only using the onboard video (came integrated in the motherboard).

What do you mean by overdriving it?

I appreciate your help. Thanks
