Mydvd Fails To Burn Project - Creator 2011 & Windows 7

caknuts

Question

I have a new HP laptop running Windows 7/ V6.1 w/ i3 processor

I am running Roxio Creator 2011 (2009 upgraded via download - no additonal updates available) Build 131B66A.

I create a project in MyDVD and save it with no problems. However, when I go to burn the project to DVD everything seems to go fine: encoding movies, encoding menus, recording menus. However, probably 95% of the time the project never burns to disk, MyDVD closes, and there are no error codes displayed.

The FEW times it does burn the DVD it seems to be when I have just opened the project.

Data DVD burn fine. It's just burning DVD projects.

Considering I had Roxio 2009 which didn't work with my XP desktop and 2009 wasn't compatible with Win 7... I paid AGAIN to upgrade to Creator 2011... well lets say that my patience is running thin, so any useful suggestions (aside from burner device drivers and clean boots) would be appreciated.

Frustrating for sure!!!

Let’s try a couple of things… We will run a Repair and try a test case to ISO.

Follow these Prep Steps – KB Page

When you have that set, start the Install for 2011 again only choose Repair when it is offered.

Reboot and leave your startup items off for now.

Try a test project in MyDVD. Just use the defaults and slap a few still pics and maybe One movie clip into it.

Under Tools – Options – Render, set it to Software.

Then Burn to File (ISO)…

If it works, load your project and also Burn to File.

If it doesn’t, post back with details and add your PC specs. (just make sure you didn’t skip anything I listed or tried something extra :D )

I have the exact same problem. I have a HP PC m7277c desktop with Windows 7. Also, when I burn a disc image, it won't play. I am at a loss trying to figure it out. Any suggestions. I have tried the things that were suggested to caknuts and they didn't help.

Too bad the original poster never came back to tell us if the problem was resolved.

How are you trying to play the ISO file? Download and run VLC player (free)on the ISO file. You can simply drag it to VLC Window.

If you simply copied the ISO file to a DVD, that is what you have - a copy of what is on your computer. In order to make a disc from an ISO file that will play on a DVD player, you must use the application on the Home page - "Burn Disc Image"

I did use "Burn Disc Image" from within Creator and it didn't work. After I downloaded the VLC player, I burned another image disc and it worked perfectly. So far, so good.

?? VLC is a player I don't think it would have any affect on the ability to burn a disc. Stranger things have happened.

Perhaps some required codecs have been supplied by the VLC Player installation.

In any event, you say it worked. :)

My experience exactly. Creator 2011 simply would not burn readable DVDs, either direct from MyDVD or via burning from an ISO image, so I tried your unlikely sounding remedy. I already had VLC, but hadn't re-installed it after moving to Windows 7. Now I've done that, burning from Iso seems to work fine. Haven't tried a direct burn from MyDVD yet, but will have a go and let you know.
