Cd/dvd Drive Not Detected

Question

My creator DE 10.1 is all of a sudden not able to detect my CD/DVD drive. This appears to have happened after I downloaded Norton's Boot Recovery Tool and tried to create an .iso file, but I can't be certain if that is the cause. Vista was also having a problem. I tried removing the drive and reloading the driver, but the driver wouldn't reload. However, I was finally able to resolve the Vista problem by making some changes in the registry per a file on Microsoft's support site. Any ideas on Creator DE 10.1?

Thanks,

Ron

Now that that problem is solved, here is another. When I try to copy a DVD to my drive using DE 10.1 I get a message that says "please insert a blank DVD-R into the HT-DL-ST DVDRW DL. Supported media CD-R ..." I've tried a number of different DVDs that meet the criteria, but all I get is the message and the DVD tray is opened. I've updated the PX engine per your last message. Any other ideas?

I'm having trouble understanding that message, especially the CD-R part?

If your copying a DVD to DVD are you sure the DVD is Blank?

Sorry. I meant DVD-R and yes, I'm sure they were blank. They were directly out of a new box. One was a DVD+R; the other two were DVD+R DL. Both types are supposedly supported by the drive.

The program is asking for a -R and you're using a +R

That LG drive should, I agree, support both but you have a modified Dell version of the software and what they may have done to it is something only they can answer

I've tried finding something on Dell's support site, but nothing yet. I'll keep searching.

Thanks again!!!!

Rather than searching Dell's site at this point, try a DVD-R disc instead of your DVD+R and see if that works.

Brendon,

That worked. You know I never even thought of trying that. I thought that with all the options supported anyone of the others would work. I read the error message, but it never crossed my mind to try a -R disc. Thanks so much!!!
