Question

....please can someone tell me how to do this..?

I want a screen to appear when the DVD goes into the machine that says 1. It's name ie: Robyn 1991... I want a highlighted button that says "Play Movie" ie: all the film in one go and 2. A highlighted (when chosen) button that says "Scene Selection" ie: when pressed it will give a chapter list where the DVD will play from each highlighted chapter.

No editing required...therefore no Videowave. I just need to know the project settings to do the best job and then how to save them as default as most/all of what I'm doing is the same. I do have one job where I need to have a "Play Movie" button and a "Slideshow" button.

I have tried & tried till I'm nearly crying with frustration...I know it's me doing it wrong.

I just cannot understand the unlinked button tutorial on here...been trying for hours now.

I would be eternally grateful for any advice....thank you, thank you...

Peter, Please confirm that you have Creator 2010 and not some other program. The other could be Easy Media Creator 10 or an OEM version which might be Creator 10 DE (DE stands for Dell edition; OEM and cut down, teaser version). You may be having trouble with the instructions because you may not have what the tutorial covers.

Thanks... Yes I have Roxio Creator 2010. I have downloaded the update (it keeps telling me to..then tells me my software is up-to-date).

I know for a fact it's not the software...it definitely me who cannot do it right. I have ordered Creator 2011 Pro upgrade too. It's on it's way...though if I can't master 2010..!! I just want to do a good job for people.

Very simple

Open MyDVD and choose DVD project

Select the MEnu Style that you like

Add your video file

Select the button

GO to EDIT / COPY

Slight move the button

and then EDIT/PASTE

This creates two buttons pointing to the same video.

Rename the first one 'Play Movie'

Rename the second one 'Select Scenes'

RIGHT mouse click on the 'Scenes' button and choose EDIT CHAPTERS

Add chapter marks manually or automatically. Make sure to check the 'Create Submenus' at the bottom and click OK

YOu can now move the buttons around and edit the menu if needed

Done

Thank you so much ggrussel... I did what you said last night and have a reult... Can you feel a "but" coming on here..?

I have burned a disc and the "Play Movie" and "Scene Selection" buttons you advised "how to" have worked a treat.. However..when the disc is in a player, the scene selection will only highlight the first 2 scenes...it doesn't seem to allow me to go to scene 3 or get to the direction arrows to go further... I have just installed my 2011 Pro upgrade discs and I'll have a play with this now... Have I done something wrong somewhere in "Project Settings" eg: bitrate is on 9..?

Also...could you please tell me again how to do a "Sub Menu" button...I did try last night but during preview it showed the screen without any named titles... I am going to have another go now with 2011 Pro..

Ps: I haven't uninstalled 2010 before 2011...It is still on the computer, I thought the 2011 Pro discs would do it automatically.. Should I uninstall 2010..?

Thanks again everyone...I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel..(although, knowing me, it still could be an oncoming train..)

Really appreciate all your patience with me...

May not be your fault. Most older or inexpensive DVD player may have issues with 9MB bitrate. Some may temporarily freeze for a second or two while the video buffer refills from the disc. I always use 8MB to be safe and the quality isn't that much different.

Try playing the DVD you burned on the computer using Windows Media Player and see if the Scenes submenu work. If so, there is an issue with the DVD player. Could be the bitrate or could be the type of disc.

Thank you again ggrussel... I found a link on here about menus not highlighting. You have to do them in HD whilst custom setting the length of record time on the blank disc. Bit of a pain as you either seem to lose a few minutes or miss out by same of quality because you cannot default to "fill disc". You have said that the quality with it being VHS isn't that noticeable, just one of those things. I can't have everything. Automatically took the bitrate down to 4 though, quality did seem a bit jerky-ish but it is a 3 hour tape to a 8.5gb disc.

Thanks again for your/everyone's help...deffo on my way now methinks...(until the next one...!!)

Cheers... Peter... Xx
