Graham,

I'm guessing you haven't written an AVI to DVD, but instead you've probably used MyDVD to convert an AVI clip into a DVD.

I'm also guessing that you're saying that the preview in MyDVD looked fine, but you're having trouble with playing the finished DVD.

Am I right?

You haven't said anything about burning the DVD, but if you've burned too fast on a low-grade DVD blank, that could give you a low-quality burn which your player is having difficulty in reading - and you could get those symptoms. You could try burning slower, on a higher quality blank.

Please also be aware that many AVI clips are made with a low bitrate and low definition, to produce a small file that will be watched on a small PC screen. This sort of clip will often look quite rubbishy on the big TV screen.
