jfire7887
Using Disc Copier 5.3.5.10 to make full disc copies (Sony CD-R 1X-48X) of my audio CDs to leave in two cars. The 2007 Toyota Corolla's CD player has no problem with them. The 2005 Acura RSX's CD player cannot play them (but is playing the originals OK). The RSX manual says to use audio CDs and make sure the CD-R process is closed. The Sony CD-R package is yellow, not red, so these may be the data CDs and not the audio ones. Disc Copier has always says Finished! so I assume they've completed properly. Again, the other car is not having a problem with them.
Brendon
In some places a Private Copying Levy was placed on the sale of blank CDs which were to be used for private copying of music. There were models of recorders and players deliberately designed which would only operate using special CDs on which this levy or tax had been paid, and these special CDs were electronically flagged to show the tax had been paid. They also cost a lot more than standard CDs. The CDs were of no better recording quality than standard CDs, but were required to operate the specially crippled players and recorders. Your RSX may be one of these deliberately crippled machines. Disc Copier 5.3.5.10 closes the disc copies it makes.
jfire7887
Thanks for the quick response! So would CD-Rs specifically labelled as "Audio" CD-Rs work?
Brendon
Hopefully they will. In some places they are labelled "Music" CDs. Sorry I can't be 100% certain for you - I'm going by the behavior of your player and what you said from the manual, rather than from testing the player myself. If you have one of those strange machines, getting the correct discs should make it work.
