Mydvd Not Encoding

KKenny1967

Question

I have no idea what happened. I hope someone here can help me. I have a video in .avi format that I am trying to burn onto a DVD. I go through the necessary steps to start the encoding but for some reason the video ALWAYS hangs up in the encoding. I thought this was just a problem with the file I was trying to burn but it is doing it to ALL my video files just at different locations. I have no idea what can be causing this. I hope someone can help. It was working just fine until a few days ago and then started this. Really getting frustrated and hope someone can help. Almost forgot. I am using Roxio 2010

Stats on Laptop

Windows 7 Ultimate

3 GB RAM

64 bit operating system

Intel Core Duo T5250 @ 1.50 GHz

150 GB HD

You might want to list the steps that you are using. What program, etc.?

Your laptop is on the low end, and if it works, it will be slow going.

You are just at the minimum requirements so there could be several things happening.

1) Make sure that you have free space on your hard drive. Make sure it is defragged.

2) Make sure NOTHING else is running while you are doing any encoding. That includes your anti-virus.

3) Since encoding uses a lot of CPU resources, make sure that your computer is well cooled. Use a laptop cooling pad or set up on spacers and blow a fan under it. You may be overheating the chip and it is causing the problem. How long is the computer taking to encode the video?

4) Make sure that you are selecting software render to encode the p[ropjects. In Vidoe Wave or MyDVD, go to the top menu and select tools, options and then put a dot next to software.

Come back and let us know if that helped.

If not, you might want to try the repair option on the Creator 2010 disc. Make sure your anti-virus is OFF.
