No Sound After Conversion Of .ts File To .mpg

mobilelawyer

Question

The topic title and description says it all.

I am trying to convert a high def .ts file of a ballgame to a a standard def dvd. I used My DVD, which converted the .tx file into an .mpg file, and I set the program to make it fit on a standard size DVD.

The video looks just stupendous. I have not had great luck in the past trying to burn standard def dvds of high def programming captured through my Hauppauge HD PVR.

But there is no audio. The .ts file plays back just fine in Windows Media Player and on my WD TV Live media player, and it is rendered in 5.1 digital sound.

I am typing this from work, so I cannot remember the settings from my DVD. I think there is a filter on the audio, and I do not know its source. It is shown in the configuration. Could that be the culprit. What is the default setting for this "audio filter"

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Any ideas from anyone? Thanks in advance. If I have not been specific enough, tell me what addtional information may be needed to try and diagnose the problem.

Let me also add this. I have Creator 2010 installed on my desktop and my laptop. The desktop is running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and the laptop is running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. I have replicated the problem on both machines. Creator 2010 was clean installed on both, using the instructions for a clean installation on Roxio's website.

In each instance the .ts files are created using the Haupagge HD PVR box capturing the stream off my Directv play just fine in Windows Media Player and other players, and the sound works just fine. I have experimented with .ts files recorded in 2 channel stereo and 5.1 sound.

But if "My DVD" transcodes the .ts file into an .mpg file for use in creating a standard DVD, the video looks just beautiful, but the audio is absent, every time.

Have gspot loaded, but I'll need some help to post what you have asked me to. If I ask it to bring up media types for a loaded .ts file, the product is too big to capture. BTW: the file is a .ts file, not .tx. Sorry about the typing mistake.

This solution finally solved my problem: I changed the file extension of the .ts file I was working with to .mts. After making that change, I was able to add the file to My DVD, and produce a working dvd with audio. The file was converted in the process to an .mpg file, and the sound was there.

Many thanks to cdanteek for his assistance in helping me analyze this problem.
