Question

Hi there. I am running Windows 7 on a new computer. I installed Roxio 9 and found compatibility issues so I downloaded the upgrade to Roxio 10. I was never able to burn a DVD and after being on the phone with Dell for HOURS, they uninstalled Roxio only to find out that my drive was bad. I tried re-installing Roxio 9 (using the cd) and then downloaded the upgrade to Roxio 10 again. Now I am getting an error when I try to start up Roxio that "An installation package for the product Roxio Center 2010 cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'RCPROD.msi'"

Any help out there? I checked through the forums but couldn't figure out where the folder is that I need to unzip. It seems Windows 7 does that automatically.

Thanks in advance!

Neither EMC 9 or EMC 10 (nor even Creator 2009) will work on Windows 7. There is NO 'upgrade' to convert EMC 9 to EMC 10, Creator 2009, Creator 2010 or anything else

What program do you have?

If it's Creator 2010 (and not EMC 10) you may have a lot of left over stuff from the earlier failed installations and you would be best to use the 'clean install' options (Vista would be close but maybe not quite the same in the registry entries so you will have to find those manually) and then try re-installation of Creator 2010.

I'm not a computer wiz by any means and have no idea how to try a 'clean install.' It was working on Windows 7. My download receipt from Roxio says that I purchased "Roxio Creator 2010 - ESD (Upgrade from Creator 2009)" Is this the full program? If I uninstall everything Roxio and just re-install the file I downloaded will that give me the full blown version of Roxio 10?

Thanks

OK - calling it 'Roxio 10' just confuses he issue (there is also a Roxio EMC 10 which is why we prefer the correct name)

Now presuming you meant EMC 9 and not Creator 2009, download the Rvo Uninstaller from here and run it in moderate mode for all Roxio items it lists. Hopefully that will clear out all the remnants of the problem.

Let us know how it works and we can see if we can take it from there)
