Burn Data Disc In Creator 2010 Pro "not Responding"

JohnnyT

Question

I installed both the January 2010 and May 2010 updates (Service Packs) and clicking on "Burn Data Disc" still causes the application to lock up and the screen goes gray and "Not Responding" is indicated in the Title Bar of the application.

I went into Programs and Features of my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and then ran a "Repair" against the downloaded program and then rebooted and tried again to use "Burn Data Disc" with the same result.

I also uninstalled the "Roxio 2010 Pro Content", and "Roxio 2010 Pro" rebooted and then reinstalled the updates and then again tried the "Burn Data Disc". It still caused the application to go gray and "Not Respond".

I do not know what else to do. Please assist.

JohnnyT,

If something has broken in your software, installing the Service Packs is unlikely to fix the break.

A "Repair" after you install SPs usually puts the software back to how it was before you installed the SPs.

If you then uninstalled the Content and then Creator 2010 pro as you say in paragraph 3, I'm not sure what software would be left to update or to try to run. The state of your software is quite uncertain.

I really think you'd be best to try and "clean install" Creator 2010 completely.

Take it all out as best you can using the instructions found HERE and then reinstall it carefully and update it. If this is caused by something being broken, the 'clean install' procedures should return your software to factory condition.

Brendon,

Before you had replied I had already tried the "Clean Install" route. I have been through this before with previous versions of Roxio. My client was willing to let me attempt to fix this issue. After I uninstalled, manually removed "Hidden Directories", and deleted left over Registry entries I then rebooted. I reinstalled after the reboot and the same issue occurred. He liked Roxio but needed something that would work. So, he purchased Nero.

The next time try using Revo Unistaller in the Modereate Mode to remove all Roxio and Sonic applications and then reinstall only the desired Roxio program.
