New Problem With The Installation Of Roxio Creator 2011 Plus

D N G

Question

I bought a brand new copy of Roxio Creator 2011 Plus today and looked forward to a smooth installation - WRONG!!!

The installation hung up when I was asked to type the CD Key for my copy. I finally went on line with technical support - they did some troubleshooting without success - they were unable to help and escalated my request to the next higher level. They did tell my CD Key was unused and should work fine.

They finally sent me an E-Mail with a trouble ticket number and said I could check the status by clicking on it. It wasn't a clickable link!!!!!!

Later, I investigated more myself. I found that in an installation, a folder is established in application data [i use Windows XP]. In that folder is a log of the installation. I looked at the log and it stated correctly my CD Key - the log said "The key could not be validated online" In sort, the problem is with the Roxio activation procedure in my case - not with my CD Key.

You were logged on online and your firewall wasn't stopping the process?

When I was working with the Roxio support staff yesterday, they had me copy the installation CD to my hard drive. They then had me turn off my firewall and anti-virus protection, and install from the hard drive. It still didn't install.

This morning I first edited my registry by removing all references that included either Sonic or Roxio. I rebuilt the registry and saved it. I ran Registry Mechanic to clear up any possible errors. I had had an older copy of Roxio creator that I had removed some time ago. The uninstall left lots and lots of stray registry entries.

I then shut off my anti-virus/firewall software [Norton Internet Security] and tried an install from the CD again. This time it worked!!!

Hi All,

There was an issue with Creator 2011 Plus purchased from Walmart yesterday. The issue is resolved now and it shouldn't require you to go through go through any process except putting the disc in the drvie to start the installation.

Thanks!

Ivan
