No Signal

Question

I saw the question of aisaac2 on sept.20,2010. I have the same problem, but his solution did not work for me. My player is an old SHARP MA-51, with an audio and a video outlets. The audio works with the ROXIO adapter, but the video, connecting Y to Y still gives no video signal on the viewer. I tested the cables and plugs with a dvd player and the picture appeared on the viewer, although in duplicate. What else can I do?

Do you use a SCART connection on the VHS in your country???

What do you mean by "duplicate" in the viewer when you tried a DVD Player?

How about your PC Specs and the Version of V2D you are running.

Thanks for answering, sorry for my delay

Sorry, what is SCART connection on the VHS? Actually the VHS player has one audio and one video outputs in the back, plus two antenna tyoe connections. Duplicate image means that I see two images of the same dvd picture on the viewer at the same time, side by side.

My PC is a Vaio VPCL 111FX SONY, running Windows 7 OS, 64 bits. What is V2D?

Tell us what output jack on your SHARP MA-51 are you plugged into, try to be specific.

There are two jacks, one audio and another video. I plug one cable from the video to the yellow jack of the ROXIO adapter and another cable from the audio to the red jack of same adapter. Audio works, but no image is detected on the ROXIO viewer.

Depending on the speed of your PC a 1:1 ratio is possible… By that I mean 1 hour of recording, followed by 1 hour of processing.

But while it is possible, it is not likely even with minimum specs.

I do not recommend using the Plug & Burn feature. If it works, good but if it fails at the end, all has been wasted.

Use Capture instead. Should a burn fail, you still have the file and can try it again.

Fro now you should have a DVD RW so that you can try a 5 minute capture and burn, just to see how things come out.

I tested with a dvd player, connecting the yellow plug (video) from the player to the yellow plug of the ROXIO adapter and the two audio plugs (red and white) from the player to the audio jacks on the adapter. Now the image appeared, but instead of just one image, it was two similar images from the dvd, side by side!

An indication about bad vhs tapes was helpful, I tried with one just seen on my tv screen, in good shape and it worked initially with the ROXIO V2D , recording on a dvd, but at about 60% of the tape, so at about 60 min, it stopped and the dvd went to finishing, which it is still doing after 20 min., so I can neither tranfer from tape to dvd nor stop the system " until the recording disc is finished"., a very poor performance, indeed. I cannot understand why the system stopped and I don't know how to stop it except killing the whole process.
