Where Is My Tivo Central Dvd Menu Style?

mvcube

Question

I like the TiVo Central menu style in Toast 9 with custom background images because it allows for more title information and shows more of the background image at the expense of having only three buttons instead of six as the other schemes have. I really missed it in Toast 10!

It's easy to port over from Toast 9: Navigate in Finder to Toast Titanium.app in your Toast 9 Titanium folder. Right click and select "Show Package Contents". There you'll find the file TiVo.psd in Contents:Resources:Toast DVD Menu Styles. Just copy it to the same location in your Toast 10 application folder and restart Toast 10. Voilà!

You must repeat the process after an update, so keep a copy of the file at a handy location.

Clever tip. You also can create a folder titled "Toast DVD Menu Styles" in your Root>Library>Application Support>Roxio folder and add the menu style there. That way it won't disappear when installing an update.

You mention the 3 buttons. You can select fewer buttons per menu page with the other menu styles, too. Typically it is 1, 2, 4 or 6 buttons per page. Fewer buttons provide for more lines of text.

Thanks for the tip. Is this in the docs?

Yes I know, but I like the vertical layout of the buttons in the TiVo template.

One problem remains: The Menu style, colors and background graphic are not part of the .disc file but belong to the global configuration. If I open a different project, I have to manually adjust the menu settings. :( (Or did that change with Toast 10?)

Not in the docs. Roxio sold packages of menu styles for an earlier version of Toast and that was where those got placed. I notice that those styles are still in the list with Toast 10. A lot changed in the content of the .psd files with Toast 9 and 10 so I'm not certain the older styles will always work with the newer versions.

That's the way it is.
