Video Output

Question

I have converted some of my movies to mpeg2 640 x 480 and 1280 x 720. I notice that some source files are widescreen and others are not. The problem is that the completed output video is centered in the middle of the screen with black bars to the left and right and not completly covering those areas. Now on widescreen I expect the black bars on the top and bottom, but not the sides too. its making the movie appear small on my HDTV. I tried everything on the software to fix it. If I play the source VSO file, it plays the way I expect. No problems when I was using Easy creator 9 which just stop working. using window7 64

What is the aspect ratio of the originals? Are they all 16:9, or are they recorded at 4:3? At 4:3 they will display the side bars you describe.Finishing a 4:3 video with an aspect ratio set at 16:9 will give you the boxed effect you describe.
