Trying To Reinstall Eariler Verison Of Roxio Creator

Fulcanelli

Question

I just purchased Easy CD & DVD recently and am unable to burn DVDs. CDs work fine. This is the information I get from the program:

Px.dll: 4.16.15.0

PxAFS.DLL: 4.16.15.0

pxdrv.dll: 1.2.47.0

PxMas.dll: 4.16.15.0

PxSFS.DLL: 4.16.15.0

PxWave.dll: 4.16.15.0

pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

I have version 10.3.104. I use Windows XP Pro. I've checked for updates for the program and found nothing. How do I remedy this situation?

What is this program? I got a program with the same name bundled in my Dell. Is that what I bought? I thought if I laid out cash, I'd get a better program. Maybe I didn't lay out enough cash?

You Dell came with a version of 10.3 specifically customized for Dell.

It contains many of the programs that the Red Box would also have…

But when the Red Box costs $30 and everything else on that same shelf runs $80 to $150, you did not really seriously think you were getting away with something

Are you sure you have a DVD Burner in your PC? If so can anything burn to it?

What happens when you try?

Yes, quite positive. I have burned many a DVD on this computer, but not with the store bought version.

What could be the cause of my DVD dilemma? Is this message telling me I don't have those DLLs installed on my computer (or that the program can't find them?)

Needed to be sure about the Burner ;)

Just guessing… But if you already have a 10.3 version on your PC and install another 10.3 version :glare:

I would be surprised if anything worked after that :o

You could try uninstalling BOTH of them then just installing one:

The Red Box has the ability to back up and restore a Drive, which is absent in the Dell OEM.

Whereas the Dell OEM comes with CinePlayer and the Red Box does not.

Pick the one you want and let us know what happens.

I uninstalled the Dell version before I installed the retail version. Perhaps remnants of the Dell version remained in the registry? I think I'm going back to the Dell version. And in answer to your earlier question, yes, I thought since I was investing money directly to the company that I'd get a better product.

When I bought my Dell (Windows XP), Roxio Creator Premier SD 10.2 was bundled on the hard drive. It worked fine, but with the mistaken notion that I would get a better product if I threw a few dollars ($30) Roxio's way, I bought the red box version of Easy CD & DVD. I then discovered it was basically the same program. I did uninstall the Dell bundled version before installing the purchased version, but when I went to burn DVDs, after going through the whole procedure of burning a DVD (data disk), about twenty minutes, I got an error message about some problems with various DLL files.

These are the DLLs it listed in advanced information on the 'problem' pop-up:

Px.dll: 4.16.15.0

PxAFS.DLL: 4.16.15.0

pxdrv.dll: 1.2.47.0

PxMas.dll: 4.16.15.0

PxSFS.DLL: 4.16.15.0

PxWave.dll: 4.16.15.0

pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

I posted a message here and it was closed before I was really finished. I was instructed to chose one or the other, and it really doesn't matter to me since I basically create DVD data backup disks or copy CDs and both programs do that.

I just uninstalled the red box version and want to go back to the Dell version that worked fine, but before I do that, I want to make sure I won't have any problems with it due to the installation of the purchased version.

When I search all folders-files, I find a Roxio remnant listed in MY DOCUMENTs, this file: Data_042410_095527.roxio

I also have a Roxio file in Programs, 11 KB in size, with two folders, PhotoSuite 10 and Roxio Burn. Both appear to be empty (but are they?)

Before I proceed to reinstall the Dell version, do I need to do anything else at all? Will those DLLs that are a problem with the red box version be installed from the original Dell bundled version? Is there an easy way to totally remove ALL Roxio files from my system before doing a reinstallation?

Sorry I haven't been around Fulcanelli, earthquakes have broken a lot of my city.

The 'problem pop-up' you mentioned gives an error message and then lists the file versions from your PX engine so techs can see if you have an up-to-date engine. It isn't saying there are problems with those files.

But the IMPORTANT thing is the error message. What does it say?
