Sense Error

Seymourp

Question

I also have the Sense: 00 ASC: 00 ASCQ: 00 (Command 00)error when trying to burn a data disc.

Burning an ISO image works fine, and creating a data disc using Windows 7 also works.

This is a change in behavior for my Pioneer drive, I replaced it with a samsung drive - same result. Installing a new ribbon cable also had no effect.

Has anyone had any success resolving this issue - it seems a faily common one now.

cheers

That sense code is a strange one:

0 / 00 / 00 NO ADDITIONAL SENSE INFORMATION

One or two possibilities here (if it's an internal drive). First, go to control panel, device manager and make certain it's in DMA mode. Also try switching it to the secondary IDE header on the motherboard.

You can also try (in device manager) uninstalling the IDE controllers and rebooting (and let Windows find them ane re-install.

If an external drive (USB) it may be failing to initialise.

Either way, it's a drive problem

Thanks for the reply. Have tried your suggestions, without success.

It is an internal drive, DMA mode 4.

I cant understand why it is the drive itself when it woks fine under windows and Ashampoo, and even with Roxio when I burn an ISO image (and this is the second drive to exhibit the same sysmptoms. Am I missing something?

Well I guess I must be missing something. The trial version of Nero works fine. Fortunately they have a good offer available at the moment. I will dump this straggely bugged system and get something that works. Good luck everybody.
