Importing Video From A Dvd

I was unable to "add hardware" my Mini DV camera to my Vista system, so I connected the camera to a dvd video recorder, successfully making a DVD. I could play it back on both my TV and my computer. However, I was not able to import the video to my Roxio Creator 8 Suite, so that I could edit it and make a short movie out of the long video.

 

The import function just does not want to let me import from a dvd - it says there are no input devices connected.

 

How can I import from my DVD drive?

Copy the folders from the DVD to a folder on your hard drive. In one of the folders, you will see some VOB files. Add those to Video Wave.

 

Note: If they don't add to Video Wave, use Windows to change the name of the extension from VOB to mpg. You may have to set Windows to show known file types via Windows/Tools/Folder Options/View then scroll down throught the options.
