How To Start Capturing A Video Which Starts With A Few Seconds Of Black Screen (Sound Only)

Frisco

Question

I installed the software and it works all well; however, the first analog video I'm trying to copy starts with a dozen seconds of a black screen and only a music. I can not push the button to start capturing image as he considers there is no signal (I guess voice and video are managed separately). As well, in the middle of the video there is a few seconds of black screen and recording stops.

There is a way to manage that manually and avoid this automatism?

Thanks for the answer,

I am assuming you have the Roxio Video Capture USB device???

You are experiencing a hardware issue with the device that a few users have had.

A few have worked around it by attaching the VCR to a DVD Player or a camcorder (with pass-through) then taking the output from that device and connecting it to the Roxio Device…

I think some have talked to Cust Service and had the device replaced…

I am not really sure, as the vast majority who have this problem, never post back :(

Hi Jim, thanks for your input. Yes, I'm using the Roxio Video Capture USB device. I'll contact the Customer Service if the trick you propose does not work, I have a DVD player that I may usew for that but not sure I can use it to pass-through, it only has peritel connectors and I probably have after to convert from peritel to RCA + SVHS/Yellow connector. If you are curious to know I'll let you know if it works fine.

Thanks again, regards,

Francisco

Sorry I did not notice that before… :(

Peritel, aka SCART, are often the cause of failures for connections. Best results are with a connector like this: AmazonUK

The VCR only has a SCART output... So, I was already converting from SCART to an RCA (Red-White)+Yellow cable to be able to go into the Roxio USB device... Are you referring to something else I must know?

Otherwise, I'll test your proposal this week end and let you know.

Thanks,

Francisco

Well, the DVD player I had is not able to have the image going though (there is only one output, no input connector - cheap stuff), so I'll have to find another one.

Most SCART adapters are one way only (input or output) as they do not have all pins connected internally. You need one similar to this one (from Maplin) which is switchable for output and input
