Text For Menu Not Showing Up

QView32

Question

I'm using Toast 10 for the first time after years of using Toast 7.

I'm burning a DVD from eye TV files.

I am not seeing any text on either the preview of the disc, or the burned copy. No title, none of the text I listed in the menu is being burned.

What am I missing? Thanks.

You must have a PowerPC Mac. There is a problem with Toast 10.0.3 and later that results in no menu text when making a video DVD using a PowerPC Mac. You need to use Toast 10.0.2 instead. Contact Roxio about needing this earlier version. The problem happened when Roxio made changes to Toast so it would work with Snow Leopard.

Well that's just freaking great. I HATE THIS STUPID TOAST. I'm sure I'll have NO TROUBLE AT ALL getting Roxio to somehow get to me an old version of their stupid software.

Thanks for your reply. THIS IS THE LAST TIME I WILL EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM ROXIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have every right to be angry about this. If you bought Toast 10 as a download from Roxio they have a 30-day refund policy. Toast 9 works great with PowerPCs. If you wanted you can still use Toast 7 to make your video DVDs and use Toast 10 for other projects.

Hi! Thanks again for your help. You're much more helpful than the Roxio guys!

I was on the phone with them for an hour, and they finally admitted a fix would be for me to get 10.0.2, but it's "unavailable."

The reason I bought Toast 10 is because when I upgraded my operating system to Leopard on my PowerBook G4, Power PC Mac OSX 10.5.8, Toast 7 would no longer burn discs for me. I kept getting this error: "Could not record the disc because of a Mac OS Error. Result Code 18768" I figured I needed 10. I bought it through amazon, and not as a download, so I can't return it.

Roxio told me they are going to "escalate" my "ticket", which isn't as exciting as it sounds, LOL. I'll wait and see if they have any fix to offer me.

I still can't burn any discs, tho. I'd appreciate anything else you might suggest! Thanks again so much!!

Thanks for the link. unfortunately it does not work. I have a Mac this is perhaps for PCs? Roxio still giving me the finger and ignoring me. Can anyone recommend a software program that burns DVDs? I've given up on roxio toast. Thanks.

Hmm,

See the actual link below. It clearly indicates that it is Toast_Ti_1002.

Don't know why it doesn't work for you.

If you copy the link below into your browser, it will bring you to the Roxio Toast updates page, but if you actually click one time on the link I listed above, it should automatically start d/l the 1002 version, which is a zip file.

Let me know

Hi again,

Just as I was reading your reply, I got a reply from Roxio forwarding the very same link.

I tried it again, and it worked great.

So now I have the text appearing, but there's still one small problem.

I used to have 3 lines of text under each separate disc item. For instance, on "Bobby's Birthday" DVD, we had "Opening Gifts" "singing songs" "coming home" and I used to have 3 lines of text under the 3 menu items. With Toast 10.02 I only have one line now. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you again, so very much, for your help!

By the way, I was wondering... can I downgrade to Toast 9 with the same type of file? I think Toast 9 would be the best fit for my system. (Power PC G4, Leopard)

Thanks again!

Not sure why your only getting one line of text, but here is how I do it.

1. Select the video tab on the top left.

2. Drag in the video file into the Toast window. That should show up in the text window.

3. Click one time on the video and select edit.

4. That should open a window that has a text and video tab. Select text.

5. That should open a window that contains three lines of text which you can edit.

6. Once finished click done.

That should then include the three lines of text in the encoding process.

If that doesn't work, I don't know what is happening.

As to using/installing toast 9, you can do that and have both toast versions.

Hope this helps.

Hi again,

I downloaded Toast 9 from the Japanese site for Roxio. This is the site that Roxio sent me to for the Toast 10.2 update. It downloaded fine and is now asking me for a product key. Will it take either my Toast 7 or Toast 10 product key, do you know?

Thanks for your instructions. In #5, of those three lines of text, only the first line prints. I thought I'd try Toast 9. Those 3 lines always printed on my Toast 7 discs.

Thanks again so much!

Hi!

I think I have everything figured out. If you place more than two "buttons" (or menu items, as I was calling them) on the DVD menu, only 1 line of text will print. If you change the "number of buttons" from automatic to 2, then Toast will print all three text lines. I guess more than 2 buttons doesn't give it enough room to print all three text lines.

I couldn't download Toast 9 without a product key, but I have Toast 10.0.2 working fine now. Thanks again so much for your help!
