DeanPk
I have some older Audio CD projects saved in an older version of Roxio that uses the .ROXIO extension. I no longer have that older software installed, it was Roxio Creator 8 Suite Home. It is the blue colored file icon. I have the license. When I try to open in my current and licensed Roxio Creator 2011 version of Roxio it tells me "Unable to open the file." Any ideas? I would like to open the file with 2011 version? Thanks, Dean
Brendon
Sorry Dean, As others have said often around these forums, Sonic/Roxio isn't strong on providing backward compatibility with the files from other versions, and in fact such compatibility is very rare. I don't believe you will be able to open your EMC 8 project files with Creator 2011. They're much too different.
Annatoby
What about opening files created with Roxio creator 10 (video wave .dmsm) Will they open in creator 11?
Jim_Hardin
What about opening files created with Roxio creator 10 (video wave .dmsm) Will they open in creator 11? Since there is no such thing as "creator 10" or "creator 11" why don't you rephrase the question using the actual name of Suites so we will know what you want??? I know it took me a while to find the actual name of the 2008 vintage software I was using. What is the Roxio website referring to when they have a product called "Roxio Creator 2011?" http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/creator/suite/overview.html And also this forum is called "Creator 2011" what software is that referring to? I think there are some software differences that are not clear.

Roxio Creator 2011 is the same as Creator 2011 its just in the forum the word Roxio is over on the left side. Does this help:
DeanPk
I was using: Roxio Creator 8 Suite Home. So I found an old computer I had which was still running Roxio Creator 8 Suite Home and I opened the file I required and copied down the contents of the CD burn I was interested in and then I opened Toast on my Mac and rebuilt the audio CD. So it worked out. But it would have been better if the new Windows version of Roxio software would open the older version files.
Brendon
Yes, I think you'll find we ALL agree with that Dean. Backward compatibility would be excellent!

The software I've been using is named Easy Media creator 10 suite (version 1.0.044). I recently purchased roxio creator 2011. Are the files or saved projects going to be compatible? Are the files or saved projects going to be compatible? No, the saved EMC 10 saved projects will not be compatible. I don't know what files you are referring to. If you mean video files created as output in EMC 10 then they are of course compatible
Question
DeanPk
I have some older Audio CD projects saved in an older version of Roxio that uses the .ROXIO extension.
I no longer have that older software installed, it was Roxio Creator 8 Suite Home. It is the blue colored file icon. I have the license.
When I try to open in my current and licensed Roxio Creator 2011 version of Roxio it tells me "Unable to open the file."
Any ideas?
I would like to open the file with 2011 version?
Thanks,
Dean
